Well i keep reading that the speed 8 is the best/fastest then its the minolta or the GT One or this or that. So i thought as i have most of the Le-man cars i thought i would test this out. All cars had transmision set at 255 and not one hit the rev limeter on the 2009 curcuit with chicanes as the race is. Tcs at 3 and ABS at 1 everything else off. Here are my results so far and please dont knock the times im not that good, you will see there are a few surprises and for the actual race i dont think the diesils have much of an advantage certainly not the R10 as tyre wear does dictate pits. All cars are tuned to the max some have body tunes as well, here are my times.

Audi R8 ’01 3.06
Stealth 787B 3.07
Sauber Mercedes 3.07
Audi R8 ’05 3.09
Toyota One 3.09
Nissan R92CP 3.09
Hdap team 3.09
Matmut 3.11
Minolta 3.14
BMW V12 3.14
Speed 8 3.15
Stealth R10 3.16
Peugeot 905 3.17
Maclaren F1 GTR 3.20
Zonda LM 3.21
Zonda R 3.23

It shows all these will beat the AI easily.

All those times are at least 20 seconds quicker than real-life.

I don't see the point in tuning a race car.

Thats a rather pointless reply, the OP was to inform people who need to know if there favourate car is powerfull enough for them to go and do the GT5 24hr le-man race, and had nothing whatsoever to do with real life as its a game.

It's not pointless.

It doesn't matter how fast it can do around one lap in dry track conditions with no tire wear. It depends on how it handles in all situations and I can tell you that the Speed 8 handles suberbly all-around.

Those will beat the AI for sure, I was posting 3:30's in my stock Audi R10 TDI and still won the race. by 1 or 2 laps. And yes it's true those cars are the fastest, the Audi R8, Speed 8 & the Pescarlo Hybrid where the fastest in my race.

@ Night the Speed 8 with that extra light on it's roof looks like a spacecraft, all I could see was this triangle of lights coming at me! :scared:

Any individual can be really good at certain cars and not as good with another. Driving style will play a huge role.

I might have to try lap times myself, I thought for sure the GT-One was the fastest on la Sarthe.

P.S. I'm on the Speed 8 bandwagon for best car overall in its class!

It was pointless he was talking about real life cars and this post and GT5 are NOT real life they are a game. And if I or anyone else wants to fully tune there cars its upto them as they play there game as they see fit.

How does the Audi R8 '01 handles?

I found it to be very good.

The GT-One was the first tested, and the quickest for most of the time testing. So maybe i got to know the curcuit better as the laps went on, you know familurisation and all that, maybe do a re-run 1 day but i havent finished testing all my cars yet still got the 3 Pescarlo's, standard R10, standard 787B and nissan R89C.
At the end of the day as stated above by Escudo everyone has different driving styles and as there is roughly a 11 second [excluding the bottom 3] between the fastest and slowest im sure driving styles could make these results different
