These are 3 of the fastest production sedans in the world and all hail from Germany. The challenge will award points to the best 1/4 mile, top speed, appearance (I'll post pics of the 3 cars) and 2 lap time at the 'Ring. The only mod will be racing suspension and wheels.

Updates to come

Trust me - this is a fight for 2nd between the Audi and Merc...

Uh, Sabine :odd: I think you mean Famine.
Anyway, as far as I know, te M5 can easily get to 200mph. I think a better opponent or at least more fair would be Mercedes SLR.

He is referring to Sabine Schmidt, who drives an M5 around the Ring as one of her part time jobs! She drives people around the Ring in one of the 'Ring Taxis' for a small fee, and has about 15,000 laps of the Ring experience.

Oops, I never knew that! But you have to admit, it would be pretty easy to hit s instead of f and b instead of m.

I'd be interested what you come up with as I did this test 12 months ago (almost to the day?). I'm wondering if you'll come up with a different answer than I did just so I can see if my performance varies from someone else's.

Not exactly common knowledge unless you're a real ring nut or saw the episode of Top Gear she was on!

Wrapup
First off i must say that the M5 was by far the better car, so i oil changed the E55 and the RS6 to even things up.

As i said the only things added to the cars were racing suspension and wheels. All 3 were lowered to the max and put at 14.0 spring rates for all of the tests, except at the Ring. In the race i took off the racing suspension and left it with the default suspension *(I found out that i left the racing suspension ON for the E55)*

Top speed is a self-explanatory test, which the M5 won.

Quarter Mile was used to test accelaration and overall transmission. In real life the M5 only has a sequential 7speed and the E55 only has a true Auto 5 speed, so i tested them with Auto and my default Manual. The RS6 i know comes in manual (i thought 6spd, the game has a 5spd) so i only tested it that way. The RS6 surprisingly won by 2/10 of a second and has one of the smoothest, fastest shifting default transmissions in the game.

0-60-0 was used partially for accelaration but mostly for braking power. The RS6 won easily.

2nd lap at the Ring exposed the cars strengths and weaknesses. The M5 handled weel and ran through the gears nicely, but was terrible at braking. The RS6 did not handle as well (which was disappointing considering the great handling of the S4) and 4th gear was at a terrible ratio, yet the 4wheel drive helped the car stay on the road and the brakes were great. The E55 i think handled well for its weight, but wasnt nearly as good as the M5 which posted the best lap time by nearly 20seconds.

Overall (Categories Won)
1. BMW M5 (2)
1. Audi RS6 (2)
3. Merc E55 (0)

I would like the rest of you to decide who wins by viewing the pictures of each car in the previous post, and that will decided the Appearance category, and barring a win by the E55, break the tie.

And just to save making another thread here are some of my other cars:

My First M5 that the lightweighted so i couldnt use for the contest

Aston Martin DB9 at CoteDAzur

Mercedes SL65 AMG

Lowered to the max and 14.0 spring rates!? That's an interesting approach to tuning you have. Certainly the M5 is the best car, but I'm suprised the Audi did well as most people find it an absolute pig.

If you like these cars then you may like to read my old write up here, or even search for other peoples (for an interesting comparison). I didn't post the link before in case it biased your results.

RS6 isn't too bad as long as you don't try to drive it like regular sportscar. I actually like it because it has power all ovet the place, not only around top rpms like M5. and Avant-version is big plus in my eyes. Nothing makes bimmer and merc-owners more mad than pretty regular looking estate that kills their "M-POWAAH! tm" and "AMMMGGG! tm" powered no-good tyre-shredders.

and about the gears: maybe you should read few real life test drive articles and see what the cars are like in real life. GT4 is mere a game, despite being "ultimate driving simulator".

I know the gearing could be, and probably is off somewhat but i was merely speaking to the cars in the game, as there is no way i could get my hands on all 3 of them nor get them to Germany.

Anyways i kinda liked doing this, i might try it again with some other sets of car. I wish i could do it with the 12 cylinder beasts that are the BMW 760, Audi A8 W12, and the Mercedes S600, now that would be fun.

If anyone has some suggestions for sets of cars to do testing with im all ears. Im thinking S4, one of the BMWs, and an SL.

Maybe you could do a testing on the SL55 AMG and the Dodge Viper...but it is not a german versus german test.

just wondering out of curiosity.....why did you change the wheels on the cras (mainly why on earth you put those rims on the M5)
also....in my opinion....the M5 has a bit better brakes. I think that it car handle high speeds at many different angled turns, giving it better brakes...just my thoughtr tho.

I changed the wheels cuz stock rims are pretty boring, the M5 didnt turn out as well as i had hoped with the black polished lip, but i love the way the RS6 and E55 look

I dont remember what i said but the M5 had probably the best brakes, just for being the lightest i thought itd be a bit better
