I'm not sure if I agree with Massa family's reaction being a 'ROFL' moment, as he and his family had put all their time and money into this, what he'd been working to his whole life. It's like somebody spending all their money and time building their dream home, only to have it fall down after one day and then laughing at them.

I voted anyway.

Votes in. :)

Lee, I disagree with Spa-Gate and Steward's Rulings being separate - the Spa-Gate was a steward's ruling.

Lee, I disagree with Spa-Gate and Steward's Rulings being separate - the Spa-Gate was a steward's ruling.

But I'd say that the Spa incident was bad enough to warrant a seperate nomination, seeing as the stewards also screwed up in other places, like Bourdais' penalty in Japan, for example.

Why on earth is Ferrari not in Best Team? They won the constructors championship...

Because of all the stewards decisions, despite the fact had they gone the other way ferrari probably still would have won it away.

How on earth can you take the stewards decisions into account? That has nothing to do with Ferrari's performance.

Anyway, how has it become a fact that the FIA are biased? It's a matter of opinion. I think the decisions were fair.

Thanks xD

Having said that, I wouldn't have voted for Ferrari. As much as I support the team over their drivers, I think this year they don't deserve the constructor's championship after the amount of times they let Massa down.

The reason the winning team didn't make it into the "best team" award was probably because there were so many teams who improved again this year or improved a lot over the season.
Also, Ferrari made some massive blunders this year, its a miracle (called Kovalainen, :p) they even managed to win.
All the pit lane accidents and then theres the random engine blow-ups and bad tyre strategies. I'd definitely say they were the worst team of the year even though they won.

How on earth can Ferrari be considered best team when they managed to "forget" to put Kimi on new tyres in Silverstone? Or repeatedly put someone in the path of Sutil?

Ferrari aren't up for the best team award as no one nominated them. No point going on about it now, Ross! There was nothing stopping you from nominating them.

EDIT: Voted

Vettel shouldn't be in the list of rookies, this wasn't his first season after all...

It's a valid point, but it's been discussed for ages. He's on the most improved and rookies nominations, which doesn't make sense, and will probably sweep most of the awards he was nominated for thanks to the latest Vettel-mania, but forget about it.

Also, Glock isn't a rookie.

Voted.

There are a couple fo disagreements, but I just ignored them and DIDN'T VOTE FOR THEM.

Several of my nominations appear not to have made it into the finals. Is there some pre-screening going on?

Anyway, how has it become a fact that the FIA are biased? It's a matter of opinion. I think the decisions were fair.

It's conjecture. Based on an analysis of all the stewards' decisions that affect either McLaren, Renault or Ferrari since 1999, there is a weight of evidence that suggests that key decisions favour Ferrari over their title rivals. The article that I read which summarised it was a print article in Autosport, but if you do your diligence you'll come up many instances.

I voted three days ago. Why aren't I on the voted list? :)

How on earth have STR not been nominated for team to watch?!

I should have voted. :(

Because nobody nominated them?

On a side note I voted on the 21st but its not been read yet. I wonder if I've made a mistake.:scared:

How on earth have STR not been nominated for team to watch?!

I should have voted. :(

I'm guessing everyone is putting down most of STRs performance to the fact that:
-3 teams were obviously not focusing on developing their car much this year (BMW Sauber, Honda and Force India).
-The Ferrari engines probably had some kind of help to them, no matter how small.
-Vettel was the real star of the team who got them the points, now he's leaving for Red Bull, they've not got as much going for them.
-The introduction of massive rule changes next year doesn't bode well for teams who cannot develop their own KERS system. I think many have doubts about whether STR will be good or not at adapting to the rules as well as perhaps teams who have focused all of their 2008 resources on 2009.
-2009 is STRs last year with Red Bull ownership and backing, perhaps some are thinking that Red Bull will be scaling back their aid to the team and taking some key personnel to their main team.
-Looking at the teams that did get nominated:
BMW Sauber - obviously a very likely championship contender, not much else to say.
Red Bull Racing - Vettel joining can only be a good thing.
Honda - focused on 2009 all the way through 2008, and they have Ross Brawn.
Renault - improved a lot at the end of 2008, they have Alonso and they know how to win championships.
Toyota - 2008 has been their best year for a long time and they have a excellent driver line-up, with Glock being very impressive this year. I think this one is more of a hopeful choice that Toyota will finally start winning something that they put huge amounts of money into.

Sorry guys haven't been able to update the list of those who have voted thus far, been snowed under with work, bare with me! :)

And the lines are closed! Thanks to everyone who voted, results should be up soon enough!

:)
