What do you guys think about the AM Vantage ? I souped her up to whatever available pumping in a hearty amount from my vault to find out that she is no better than my stock MX5 Miata !!
However, I sitll love the way she corners. She grabs the road like a leech, almost as fine as my MB DTW car. (maybe because of the lack of speed)
Do you guys possibly know a setting to have her go faster ?
 
I was about to post asking pretty much the same thing!

I've got her set up so she handles like a dream but that speed sapping torque induced wheel-spin is a killer. You have to ever so gently bring in the power on corners or out goes the back end and down goes the exit speed. The top end is fine, it's just that she weighs so much that getting there takes an eternity - mind you, I am trying to race against the LM cars in the PRO Dream Car championship so perhaps I'm expecting too much?

I can get consistent 1:57's out of her at Grand Valley but to win I need 1:55's (my Esprit does 1:45's so it's disappointing the Vantage can't compete). I've just set up the DB7 and she'll do 1:55's at a push so maybe she'll hold up the flag for Aston Martin.
 
i found the same disapointing thing. probarly because the vantage is heavy in its old age, it aint exactly a lotus elise.
 
I think the car is good Im gonna use it in the GT all stars to prove its worth. My setup seems ok now although I still have to be carefull out of corners that are sloped.
 
Haven't tried the Vantage, but I've got a stock Vanquish (+ oil & T1s), which I use in all the stock car races and it rocks!
 
I found all the Astons to be a little soft, but then they are GT cars. But who cares, they sound really nice :drool:
 
GilesGuthrie, I agree about the Vanquish. Shame you can only win it once and are stuck with the colour you win. I got the Grasmere Blue which is not too bad.

Anyhow, she turned out to be the saviour of Aston Martins blushes. I bought my stock one off myself, tuned it up, tweaked it a while and thrashed the LM's on Grand Valley - o.k. maybe thrashed is an exageration but I won by 14 seconds from the S2000 LM Race Car that had been ramming me on every corner for the first 4 laps! Victory is the best revenge! Still only turning in 1:52's 'tho (with the occasional 1:51 if I get things just right).

The only gripe is that tyre wear is monstrous. Running Super Slicks I still had to pit. It's that good 'ol weight problem again I suppose (a V12 in the nose gives those little circles of rubber a hard time).
 
How aBOUT THE REALLy fat aston martin V8 vantage now that car is nang! and fast! whoooooo!
 
Y2Tuscan, yes she is a tad on the weighty side but still a beautiful lady. Like I said earlier, she is fast but, sad to admit it, not fast enough. The Vanquish on the other hand is just about good enough to mingle with the big boys.

From the sounds of things tho, you might have beaten the performance problem? When you say you used it in the All Stars races, what league was that? I'm trying to tackle the PRO Dream Cars championship in as many non-race cars as I can and the Vantage just doesn't respond quickly enough to the throttle to win (whereas the Vanquish does).

If you'd post your setup so I could have a peek (and maybe learn something) I'd be grateful.

You can win the Vanquish more than once. I know for sure you can win one for getting all golds in the I-A license tests, and you can win one from the British Touring Car Championship in the Professional League. I've also heard where you can one somewhere else.
 
FuryX21, I knew about the one you could win in the British GT Cars cup (obviously that's where I got mine!) but I didn't know about the 'All Golds in A1 Licences'. The chances of me getting that one are slight I reckon!

I'm a good driver (top dog in our local group) but the style of driving required in the licences doesn't match mine. Mind you, I haven't gone back to the licences since I rushed through them when I bought the game (mostly bronzes I must shame-facedly admit). Perhaps I should try again.

All the prize car lists I've seen don't suggest that it can be won in any other race bar the Brits GT, so if you can recall where else you've seen it I'd be pleased to know.
 
Ive gotta say that the vantage is a great car, but I wish it was as good as some other cars that are in its class. But I still love it.
