yu noe the arrows to tell yu if there are new posts or not? well, it seems like that it is misleading because when i wanted to look if there are any new posts, there weren't, but the arrow says there is. what's with this?

Sometimes if you're inactive for a long time things like that happen...it's happened to me before.

so how long would it take for the problem to go away?

the thing is now is that i have to go through all of the forums to chk if there are ne new posts and most of the time they aren't updated or something. it gets annoying after a while

No offense to you at all but you posts would make your self more educated if you use punctuation and perhaps the full versions of words.

Sorry, it's just the internet language that I use. I'll try to type like I would for an English paper :)

You're probably just viewing a cached version of the main page. Hit the refresh button in your browser to make sure you're looking at the latest version. :)

hm.... It's not working for me for some odd reason. I have to click the link that says "Mark This Forum Read" in order for the arrow color to change. It used to automatically do it, but for the past month, I had to take that extra step.

And what do you mean I was viewing a cached version? You mean like the one that was saved on my hard drive?

Usually you can tell if it's not a "new" post if you haven't viewed it or posted in it yet...:

OK, there are two things you can do:

1. Click the "New Posts" button. This compares when you last logged in with the current state of the database. Seeing as this is all server-side, it's not dependent upon your own settings.

2. Log out of GTP, and then back in again. By logging in again, you create a new cookie and a new session, which should be clear, and thus give you the correct status.

I have completely lost faith in the refresh button. It never works like everybody seems to think it will. I does only after you empty your cache.

And Thio, why don't you just get email notified? I have a dedicated email at Yahoo just for GTP. Then you won't waste any time at all on threads with no new posts.

In most browsers, if you hold the "shift" key while hitting the refresh button, it'll truly bypass the cache and grab data from the server (the key might vary from browser to browser, but it's usually shift).

[edit]: Actually, it seems that IE for Windows might not even do that... eh, I won't give my usual M$ rant. ;)
