I am new to he forum but online i have seen the range of car lovers that gt appeals to, from musclecar lovers to drifters, dragsters, tuners and whatever in between. So i started trying the tunes for my cars that people added here and in no second i was crazy fast or drifting tons of points! But immediately i find something wrong :grumpy::grumpy: that am not a tuner!!! I love how stock cars handle like the understeer in the wrx and stuff like that, and realize that i dont care about winning but more about driving:dunce: so i figure thats the magic of gt. i love fighting the cars weaknesses because instead of fixing it by tuning it i improbe my technique to compensate the cars problems.

Why do you love gt?

I love Gran Turismo because...well, I love racing games in general. I've loved the genre since I was five years old. Gran Turismo has a massive library of cars spanning from the 40s to today, is being consistently updated to fix the most minute of problems and it's an absolutely beautiful game.

......because im able to tune cars :D

Ok ok, don't get me wrong. Trying to tame a car sure is fun, but (in my case) im racing online with friends with no aids and tyre damage. If it hadn't been for the tuning, I wouldn't be able to even compete with them, while im trying to control that 600 Hp monster.

I love GT because unlike other racing games, im able to act like a professional driver and visit courses around the world. Also, at the same time im able to compete with my friends using a vast variety of cars.

My graandfather did various type of racing when he was younger, so weekends at his house always included watching a race or two of some sort. Us kids were hooked very early.
The funding and time to invest in a career never transpired, so I am left to dream and scratch out any glimmer of competition I can. I've been hooked since GT1 came out. Was always quite a blast. Whenever a new edition came out, we would all gather at a friends house, and wouldn't even race til we were all there to watch the intro first. In my view, GT has always set the bar for what a racing game should be, and I never get bored of just grinding on a hard track long after golding, or forcing a lesser car to bow to my stubornness, believing that it can win if I just put the spurs to it whip it hard enough.
Of course, the great folks of GTPlanet make it even more enjoyable.

Well..

1. The cars, although there is a lot of duplicates, it's nice taking a crap car and tuning it up and making a nice car even better.

2. Online, if you can find a good room, you're golden

3. Plug and play, I don't have to screw around with a million different things, I just setup a few things and I'm good to go.

4. The community, GT Planet is great

5. Developer support, although it's criticised all the time, it's nice to get updates and reasonably priced DLC.

6. Nurburgring, GT5's model is almost perfect

7. The spirit, I know it sounds cheesy, but GT games have always had this sort of "spirit" to them, I can't say I've played to many other games that can claim to do that. PC sims may be a bit more realistic, but they lack spirit, almost like their all work and no play..

As a kid I bought an Airfix slot racing set. Cheaper than Scalex it got me driving slot cars, then my Dad took me to a slot racing club in Middlesbrough, I'd have been 11 or 12, he went to get me into the club and stayed with me the first night. By the third night we both had competitive cars and our own controllers.

We did club nights, open meetings and even the Nationals once, where I came 6th out of eight in the Saloon category finals having blown a pole on the motor 2/3rds of the way through the race when second and challenging for first. I've still got the pots I won. I held a few category lap records over my time in Middlesbrough club, often popping in a fastest F2 (GP pre 1950 IIRC.) and Sports car race before someone else beat it.

So, retired and visiting my elder son's house, he showed me his GT5 and I'm back racing like a kid again. I like all road racing, but really enjoy the higher performance sports cars, 700+pp. Real thrills and the little boy in me is still alive. Just getting into Rallying, and not yet fully to grips wiith gravel, but I'm loving snow!

I love Gran Turismo because I love motor racing and cars, and GT captures the beauty and sole of cars and racing wonderfully.

It seems to never get old either, there's just so many cars to try and have fun with and there's a great community behind it.

GT isn't just a game, it's an enthusiasts paradise.

Gran Turismo is my passion that shares my love for cars and racing. Not only that, but it's also my legendary hero that tought me a few things I didn't about cars when I was 8 years old.

It even became in love with rally thanks to Gran Turismo, and now I love it much more because when it was my birthday I was gifted a Mazda 787B '91. I didn't even check or know that car was from the 1991, but now I marked it as my best friend to this day. :D

Gran Turismo is so wonderful. 👍 Both GTPlanet and Gran Turismo rock!

I like GT5 because....well I'm not sure why I bought the game but I did and even got a dfgt to go with it.

The reason I like gt5, is not only is a great game. But I have met some awesome people online and enjoy racing with them. And also this website as kept me into this game, without it i would have stopped playing awhile ago. 👍

GT since 1 and till death. GTKitty 4 Prez, GT4Ever n stuff. I am the self-admitted GT fanboy slut, and I approved this message.

I've always enjoyed the difficulty of GT. The fact that PD makes it look better than anything else on the market is just the icing on the cake.

Mad props to Sony, as well, for my $0 monthly PSN fee.

Could not have said it better.👍👍👍👍

Its very easy to just spend the day at the ring in 500pp roadcars, always close racing.

This is a fantastic story 👍

This might sound cheesy but GT5 allows me to race cars I will probably never be able to drive and its a place were there are NO real rules and you can have the freedom to do what you want just about. Really GT5 Prouloge is what got me truly into cars. My friends keep asking what's so cool about cars anyways or a car is just a lump of metal and rubber. GT is a place to push the limits and to propel your passion of cars and racing. There are not many games that fuel this passion for all things fast, all things beautiful, all things that are works of art and engineering. It is the automobile and for those who my not afford these machines of power and AWESOMENESS GT5 is the place.
Sure Shift does it but more on the destructive side of racing, right? But GT5 is for the kinder racing, the beauty and eligance of a car. GT5 focuses on the art of racing not the brutalness of it all. Despite all these data packing updates I still and probably allways will love GT5.

Run Le-Mans at Sunset, and drive your favorite car down the straight to indianapolis with no HUD.

This is why I love GT5, the pure bueaty.

I like challenging my friends on my custom tracks to see how they react to the cliff halfway around the track. Get me in an F1 car and you'll never see me again.

You got to try gt1 and the whole series i was 13 when i started i think and it was the most realistic game of its time! Now am twenty something and the only reason i bought my ps3 was for gt5

i love gt5 because i can tune some of the greatest cars ever made.its epic because u can completely change how a car handles

I raced sprint go-karts for many years and our local track closed. I then got into mod-lite racing on a 1/4 mile high bank dirt oval.

I was blessed with the birth of a son that has taken away from the time and money needed to compete successfully in the real world

I found gt and it replaces most of the real racing urges that I have and will never lose.

Online is the only way to go for me and my needs but the game can do so many different things for each persons own special desires.

"i love fighting the cars weaknesses because instead of fixing it by tuning it i improve my technique to compensate the cars problems."

Ohhh yea. It's the same for me. Tuning isn't something that I try very hard to perfect.

Most all the above...👍

I must add to that I greatly enjoy video games, was into "battlefield", MOH, COD, etc., because of the adrenaline. My cousin kept trying to get me to try the GT series (I love, I mean LOVE, to drive fast, don't even get me started about the mountains in West Virginia with my Dad's VW GTi) -- I always balked at "racing" because I thought driving games were cheezy and not really "like driving."

One night at his house after a couple beers he (somehow) convinced me to pre-order GT5, an the rest is history. What I love (as I said, in addition to all the above) is that, in most video games/sims, etc, there is always a "down" time, a time when you can catch your breath. If you've ever played a first person shooter you know what I'm talking about, you can always hide behind a bush or a wall... In GT5, there ain't no down time: you must always be at the "edge," and if you aren't, you'll get beaten by someone who is. The ultimate adrenaline rush. If you aren't unceasingly, relentlessly at the edge you aren't driving fast enough!

Oh, and also: The Nurburgring; The frickin' impossible Formula GT challenge in the Extreme series, A-spec; the sublime dawn at La Sarte during the 24H du Mans; the community, from the time-shearing tunes of Shirakawa and Adrenaline, to the acerbic wisdom of Daan and Famine, to the monk-like rigorousness of all those who contribute to the UCD thread; the look on my Maserati-owning Uncle's face when I put him in a Yellow Hat GTR on Suzuka with my DFGT; the gloss on my Ford GT in the afternoon at the Redbull museum in Photo-Mode; going from the joy and pride of winning amateur series races in a souped up, racing soft-tired 1100 bhp Veyron with all the assists on to the despair and frustration of coming in .04 sec. AGAIN, in the challenges with a stock car/stock tires, with PP set to the median and no aids whatsoever; ahhh, what am I doing writing -- I could be playing right now!:)

You've just contracted GT syndrom. It's very common in FPS players and the only cure is to drive faster. They pick up a Logitech wheel and never turn back. Welcome to the clinic, fire up your 458 Italia and hit the gas.

GT5 as only game on my PS3 says it all i think......
