I posted last year's winners in the Photography & Graphics section, but thought that posting World Press Photo's winners since 1955 would be better done here, where a broader audience could view and share thoughts on the pictures.

Like I said earlier, I've got lots of respect for journalists and photographers and believe strongly in freedom of press, so I thought these images were really thought-provoking. Hopefully some others on this board will share the same sentiment.

1980 and 1989 are the most striking pictures for me.

Yea, its amazing how he can just sit there like that. If i was on fire, i'd be running around like crazy, or maybe i would stop drop and roll
 
I'm sorry, but I find the latest picture hilarious. It's too bad I can't see the devastation through the Mini's shiny paint and the hot chick in the front seat. :lol:

Cool thread, It's amazing how much can be captured in an image.
