An old one called 'Rendezvous' - it's basically a camera mounted on a car's bonnet as he flies through Paris early in the morning to meet up with a girl.

I'd have to throw my vote in for H B Halicki's original "Gone in 60 Seconds"

A true independent film. Halicki Starred, directed, financed, produced, and did all his own stunts in the movie. Also all the "Stolen" cars in the film were from his private collection. The final jump scene of the movie, landed him in the hospital with a compressed spine. Interesting note, The police, fire departments, and spectators running for their lives, were exactly that. No "real" actors in the film. reali life people doing what they do in real life.

Unfortunately, Halicki was killed while filming the sequel. Again, doing his own stunts.

Interesting note, it was rated PG even with all the playmates pinned up on the wall in the garage scene.

I remember a pretty good car chase in 'fatal attraction' pretty good until they drove that lotus off of a bridge; when it broke up, you knew it was a fake. (of course thats been many many years ago, and my mind is not what it used to be)

I rate that car chase sequence down that mountain road from Sharon Stone's place (with Michael Douglas driving the police cruiser chasing the Lotus) as one of the most thrilling I've seen - when he comes around the corner on the wrong side of the road and there's a car there - freaky!
