Is the feeling you have when you've gone up a really steep, slippery hill everyone else fails at.

Thread of the year :)

I don't get snow though burning out in the rain is entertaining.

Try doing that with ultra-low grade all-season goodyear tires in a tiburon which already has minimal grip and zero traction control. Not fun, but damn is there a rush when you get to the top

Best part about winter is the slush that can come with it. I LOVE wet surfaces, and slushy surfaces are really fun wet surfaces. :)

Do you realize how many Jeep Commanders, Ford Expeditions, Silverados, and 4x4 trucks of all sorts I've owned so far this winter with my Civic's snow tires? Yup, that just happened.

Using your Ronals to grab the ice is cheating.

Back in cold Norway now.

I haven't got traction control or any other aid. Feels great, a little personal victory. Unlike when you're going for a slide which end up across several lanes, which is just a bummer. When you slide, going wide and realise you're actually gonna make it, now that's the win in winter :)

Worst thing about winter: getting stuck in a school bus on a hill for over an hour.

But, I will condcede: This winter was the first snow here in over 5 years, so people aren't exactly practiced. It was fun seeing an Accord succeed where Tahoes, Silverados, and an Escalade failed.

Making it up the hill is always nice, but empty, secluded parking lots are much more fun.

Love driving in the snow. Blowing by trucks and suv's in my Grand Prix. Does all right for a high torque front driver on all season Eagles. Never gotten the thing stuck either. Had to take it out and rescue my friend who got his Subaru stuck once or twice however.

Cold weather makes the car sound wicked too, with the rumble from the Borla exhaust, the supercharger whine, and the sucking noises that the cold air intake makes. 👍

Our rwd Astro van is more fun in the snow. The look on people faces when they see a 4500lb van power sliding around a curve is pretty funny.

The best part?

Purposely scaring the crap out of your friends when you know that you're still in control. Oh, and not playing "startup roulette" like I did with the VW. That sucked.

I'd love to find one, but round here all the carparks I can think of are either locked at night to prevent gypsies or have insane amounts of furniture and trees.

Where I'm at, we have a large mall parking lot to play in (of course it's getting smaller due to all the plowed snow piling up). The best thing is when I was drifting around with my brother, and I started drifting towards a light pole (I knew I wouldn't hit it) but my brother grabbed the roll bar and was like oh ****, and I was just laughing at him.

Also seeing a big heavy Police Interceptor linking together drifts is quite impressive or so I've been told from people that were watching.

I completely approve parking lot sliding.

If you know how to keep the car underneath you, you're better prepared for the OH:censored: moments.

... is the challenge of driving on snowy, slushy or slick surfaces... parking lots are fun but I won't find one in the city of Indy that doesn't have a bunch of cops watching it.....

Do they do anything beyond telling you to stop? Here, absolutely nothing happens unless you're caught twice by the same cop or anal security guard (I guess? Never happened to me).

I lolled. I totally steal that phrase from you.

Why? It's Loooooooooooooong! Even my dad's truck, when it attains about 3 degrees of drift on dry pavement, is pretty epic :nervous: Luckily, he's the good sort of bad driver:tup:

The best parts of winter?
-Perfectly concentric, spinning-around-one-wheel, AWD donuts.
-Using the front bumper as a snow plow
-First tracks!
-Cold air = Boost. HARD!

I think empty forest roads are better than empty parking lots; more thrill, bigger change of crashing and generally just more stupid.
Or motorway on- and off-ramps, but then you need to know what you're doing, big time :)

Speaking of that, one of my favorite parts of winter is finally being able to spin my tires at the top end of first gear!

Fouth gear.
With AWD.

Speaks to some of the road conditions we've had around here in the past couple months.

(That said, they're all-seasons. Brand new all-seasons, but a/s nonetheless.)

Torqueless. I can spin in 2nd or 3rd with out much trouble in snow or ice this time of year. I've barely used 1st gear at all since it dropped down to freezing temperatures, has become habit to just put the Spyder straight into second.
