I thought I would take the time to make a thread for people who enjoy card games to share what games they like and explain new ones for people to play
One of my favourite games is Merde Tete (the french name given to the loser
) also know as stash.
Players- 3 or more
Before you begin-
Each player is given 3 face down cards that no-one at all must see. They are then given 3 face up cars on top of these. Then, they are dealt 3 cards into their hand, and the remaining cars go face down into the centre.
To Play-
The players then have the chance to exchange any face up cards with cards in their hand. You should try to get high cards (Queen, King or Ace etc) or 2's or 5's.
The idea of the game is to place down a card equal or higher than the card before.
For example, one person puts down a 6, the next person puts down a 6, and then the next person puts down a nine.
Certain cards do special things when played.
2- Will beat anything, but the next person can put anything down
5 and anything higher than a 5- Will beat anything, but the next person has to beat whatever card you put the five with. Special that some cards will do still occur.
For example-
9
5 and 8
10
When a 7 is played, the next person has to play lower.
For example
4
7
3
Jacks change the direction of play, so the next person who went before you goes again and play continues in that direction.
If 4 of the same card (for example, all four 6's are put down one after the other), or someone plays a 10, the cards in the growing pile are stashed, so they move to the side and are never seen again. A new pile begins.
You can play as many of the same type of card as you want, for example you could play 2 sevens, or even three 5's and 3 Ace's.
If you cannot be the card played before you, you must pickup the pile, so it is best to stash things quickly if you can.
When the pile is stashed, the person who stashed has another go and can play anything.
When you get rid of all the cards in your hand, you use the face up cards. When these are gone, you randomly pick one face-down card and hope it can beat whatever is played before you.
You keep picking up face down cards only if you have no cards in your hand.
When all your cards are gone, you win!
Yay!
A little hard to get into, but great fun once you know what you're doing.
