I remember seeing those on the shelf at Blockbuster, but all I've ever seen is the animated version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. But I even liked that version.

 Mr. Beaver comes out the closet!! Now there's a turn up for the books!

No, seriously, looks pretty cool... the TV series was excellent, proper Xmas movie stuff... :)

First I have heard of it..I read the series about 3 or 4 times when I was younger...seen the movies and was always a little dissapointed. I hope they do justice they way 'Lord Of the Rings' was handled

I only saw 'The Lion , The Witch and the Warbrobe' from the telly . When were the others on ? what year was it ? was it on Sunday ? The Voyage of the Dawn Treader ive always wanted to have a gander at . I had no idea it had progressed , book by book .
The Lion , The Witch .. i caught one cartoon movie version , which was pretty okay , but not evocative enough of the first time you'd indulge the Narnian Chronicles . There are only seven . The way the stories and families ( or male&female units ) intersect each other keeps the Time of the novels , well , magical . To my mind a producer/director risks scrubbing the texture of them by taking the books themselves as entities , it's not quite a serialized tale in the mold of LOTR.

thought you guys might like to see this :)

BTW ive just read they are going to make all the books into film adaptations and scripts and so forth are being written.

$10 says I won't like it - Disney has ruined too many movies for me. Hitchhiker's Guide in particular 👎

Disney has nothing to do with this film :)
Check again - their name appears at the very beginning of the trailer :)

I'll stand by what I said - almost every movie I've seen that Disney dipped their fingers into has come out completely ruined. Any movie I looked forward to with Disney involved has disappointed me. It doesn't mean I won't watch this one, it just means that I'm not going to expect much from it

Disney is making this movie? Oh no! They're going to screw it up!

A: Actually no, Disney is not making Narnia; Disney are the ones who are marketing and distributing the film, but the company with the most control over the project - including owning the rights to making the movie as well as any films of the other six books in the series - is the company Walden Media. So they are the ones with the most final say about anything regarding any Narnia films, not Dinsey. (For reference - it's like the same sort of deal that Disney had with Pixar).

So if you think the films are being screwed up, or - after you see LWW - that it was screwed up, then Micheal Flaherty - President of Walden Media - encourages you to please complain to them, and not to Disney.

i take back what i said, but Disny have nothing to do with making it, just got my wires crossed, my mistake sorry for the confusion, but maybe this will give you peace of mind to know that Disney are only marketing it. :)

I've read a book about it called "The lion, the witch and te wardrobe".

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but just in case you're serious, I'm going to do something very few people will afford you here on GTP: I'm going to be nice.

Yes, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is the original book by C.S. Lewis, which is part of a larger series called The Chronicles of Narnia (it was written first, but actually fits in as book #2 in the series, right after The Magician's Nephew). That's why the movie's full title is actually "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe."

As for the Disney discussion, don't even get me started on how hypocritical and totally evil Disney actually is. Luckily they had nothing to do with the making of this film, and when they only distribute it usually turns out pretty well. Plus, sometimes you can just tell a movie's going to be good, and this one can't lose, at least in my books.

Disney or no , they could have started w/ The Magician's Nephew if they were going the whole Enduro . The White Witch will be black and the Pevenses will sit on the throne for about the start of the closing credits . These books will require imaginative treatment , a very rare thing indeed .

yeh they should start with The Magician's Nephew, but they said they are going to make the movies in the order the books were published :boggled: , i think this way they will make a rod for their back. but i guess they have a reason for this, maybe because not everyone has heard of the book, but have heard of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, so this way people will recognise the franchise from the start.

Correct-A-Mondo, im not a big Disney fan but the ones they have little to do with always turn out better than thought. I think that since Disneys golden years they have lost track of what matters in a film and decisions are made with the head, instead of the heart. Same is to be said about most film companies these days.

Well, I saw it on the weekend, and there was something missing. I can't say what it was, but the whole story failed to capture me the way it should have. Don't get me wrong, the end battle was absolutely fantastic, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it was as good as anything in the LOTR Trilogy, as many critics have said in their reviews of Narnia. I have had just about enough of Tilda Swinton, and I feel she did not fully exploit the character of the White Witch. She just didn't seem evil enough. I suppose she wasn't overly evil in the book either, but I firmly believe that simply taking the story Lewis presented in writing and putting it on screen does not make a good film. There needs to be adjustments and certain small liberties must be taken to make a smooth transition.

Fans should watch it, as it's the best adaptation to date, but there's still plenty of room for improvement.

I just saw the movie...rarely do I lately watch movies (and like them at that)

This is the best movie I have ever seen in my life (have not read the books, am familiar with other C.S. Lewis books)

I'm still waiting to watch Kong myself... oops, wrong thread... though I can see THAT one impressed you...

Narnia isn't opening in our market till January (blasted scheduling problems), and though I am waiting for it, I've been kind of worried about the fact that Disney's supporting it, as I'm not a big fan of Disney live action productions.

Is it bad? Or worth watching but not in the "Oh my God it's Good" way?

Oh yes, I would definitely recommend that you watch it if you have any desire at all to see it. It's not a complete write-off, the end battle is pretty good, and it's a new visualisation of the story. I just saw a lot of ways it could have been better.

i saw it yesterday, its quite good, but a bit , well sort of, childish, but don't knock it, it's still good, and mr beaver is absoluley hilarious!

I'll see it on DVD I'm sure. But I'm too old and too cynical to enjoy the film as much as I would have if I were 20 years younger. Much more minded to see King Kong at the cinema.

👍, good to know, Anderton... my wife will be thrilled to be able to get out of the house and to the movies again... now we just have to find a baby-sitter.

I don't know if any of you watch Saturday Night Live, but they had a rap last week about Narnia that was hilarious. They kept going on and on about the Chronic... les of Narina.

Very funny. Been stuck in my head ever since.
