Gday.

I am always getting into discussions or arguments over PS2 vs PC, Nascar vs GT and today Force Feedback differences. In order to work out afew of these little discussions i have chosen to survey you nice people. Although i know alot of you are GT lovers i still believe you will answer honestly. Also the US Members might be able to help a little more. So lets get started.
I will give a layout for things to be answered, so just copy and paste it in your reply and answer it for yourself. Please take the examination, i know it looks long but they only need short answers.

EXANINATION BEGINS...

1.What CPU do you have in your pc???

2. How Much Ram???

3. What Video Card???

4. Have you ever played Nascar Racing Season 2002 or 2003 from Papryus on PC???

5. What would you rate it out of 10???

6. Have you played it with a Wheel using Force Feedback??

7. What would you rate the Force Feedback out of 10???

8. Have you played GT4: Prologue with the Driving Force Pro???

9. What would you rate the Force Feedback of that wheel out of 10???

11. Which Game do you claim as being more realistic, Nascar 2002/2003 or GT4: P???

12. Do you prefer your PC or your PS2 (if need be state pros and cons of each)???

Okay thats it, now the reason for this is because although my mate and i both have valid responces, he is biast about pc, and i am virtually nuetral but say i prefer my ps2. I ask here as i am hoping to find people with high spec pc's, and people that have played both GT4:p and nascar, so can give an honest opinion on them. I am just cursious as to why i, and many others with high spec PV's go back to our PS2 when we want to have some fun, is it all because of GT, i know it isnt for me. I love being able to plug and play, and not having to worry about the spec of the machine for a game to work.

Thanks for reading & replying.

NASCAR....hmmm....not my cup of tea for sure...lets all run around in ovals, bumping and flicking eachpther off for a few hundred laps and see who the best "flicker-offer" and who is the luckiest of the bunch to get first place...but hey, i don't mean to offend any NASCAR fans around here...just can't get over the concept

I'm intrested in #11. How are we suppose to compare Nascar 2003 "made by Papryus" and GT4 "the final version" I havent had the privy to play it quite yet, I think many many others are in this same boat since it isnt even out.

Btw, I've played Nascar 2003 on my computer with my logitech pro and its good to play on a 20 inch tv but it doesnt compare to using my race rig and a 35 inch tv with GT3.

I changed it, its meant to be compared to Prologue.

Nascar is a lot more realistic then Gran Tourismo. Many reasons bring this up, but the biggest difference between both games is that NASCAR is alot narrower as a game; using only a few tracks, using the same car... while GT is very 'large' and has a very big selection of cars.

As for realism, Nascar is better since it incorporates all adjustments a real Nascar car would, down to oil and tire temperature. It includes Realistic damage and consequences. It enables the player to create a new team, or follow a real team, and allows the player to create a 'campaign'. Real Weather features and different times of day for every tracks, as much as realistic pitstops (GT4 will probably have that).

GT4, although sporting a very good physics engine, stops pretty much there as far as realism goes for racing. The few differences are Tire Wear, now with Fuel consumption. Rally is not realistic nor does it 'work' like a real rally event (Stages), but rather goes with Laps. On the upside, GT brings a lot more options of gameplay and is perharps one of the best looking racing game to date (GT4, from Scrns).

Both games are not oriented towards the same goals. GT clearly tries to bring every kind of racing into account, while Nascar obviously concentrates on Nascar, making it a lot easier to control and focus all the power of a PS2/PC into what's necessary. GT as to split all that information into all its different focus groups.

I play both games, amongts others, and so far, Nascar 04 and Burns Rally are the 2 most realistic games i play. Live for speed comes to mind too, but i don't play that one too much.

PS2-never crashes, I like my games more on the fun side where I don't have to concentrate so hard. Nascar is fun when you're in the mood for heavy concentration, which for me isn't all that often. I also like racing in lower powered cars ala GT.

Interesting thread, this place sure needs them! 👍

12. Do you prefer your PC or your PS2 (if need be state pros and cons of each)???
Preference is the PC - For simulations...i play F1 Challenge. No decent F1 game on PS2 yet. I'll wait till 2006 and consider the F1 game on PS2. If I had more power I'd get Richard Burns Rally on the PC.
PS2 - It's fun, but i'm more of a sim fan. I use it for GT and Rally games only

12. Do you prefer your PC or your PS2 (if need be state pros and cons of each)??? Neither. Half the fun of racing on the PC are the infinitely customizable facets of games.

Usually, I knock NASCAR almost all the time, but I'll answer only a few questions, if only one.

We are normally on the context that NASCAR simply isn't auto racing. GT, however, encompasses several types of racing on several types of circuits. With a NASCAR game, the rule of thumb is about close, aggressive racing, and that never say die attitude. You fight until the end. It's the same thing in GT, only that you race in multiple classes with various types of cars, but the fight to the top is the same. Honestly, I'd put NASCAR vs. GT as a battle of racing, not just the loyalties to racing. The so-called "stock" cars handle like... "stock" cars. A GT car handles almost any way depending on tuning. I have played the old NASCAR sims on my PC all the way up to NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition. The handling reflects "stock" car handling, not so much all cars. So if you have to diffrentiate between them, I'd say that GT is better in many respects because you race so many types of cars, all handling tough courses ranging from road courses to street courses. If NASCAR Racing was racing all of the Gran Turismo tracks, you'd have to adjust your driving style to take care of the 3400 lbs. curb weight and all the different components of the cars.

NASCAR or GT? I'd take Gran Turismo any day of the week. It's too diverse with many oppurtunities to pull out wonderful lap times without having to worry about closely-configured race cars. Oh yeah, you don't learn terms like "loose," "tight," and "trouble" in a GT race. And BROCKY, since you're an Aussie, I'd sure like to keep racing Australian V8 Supercars in the GT series.

12. I have my PS2 only because of the Gran Turismo Series........i dont really know which I prefer. PC has spyware and other annoything things. For online play I definitely prefer my PC. But for single I prefer PS2.

However I have somthing else to add. This may sound rather queer but recently I was playing NFS4 with my DFP and it staggered me on how good the force feedback was. Quite amazing. Yes the game is completely ridiculously unrealistic but the force feedback was excellent, you could really feel the road.

Nothing "queer" about your ending paragraph, Leo Straight 6. Fear not.

ho ho ho, pc. Why? More games, cheaper games, better graphics, sound, load times, multiplayer, emulation, just better in every way. I can use my ps2 pads on the pc, mouse and kb for fps games etc, pcs own. Then ofc theres modding games etc :D

1.What CPU do you have in your pc??? P4 3.0ghz HT

2. How Much Ram??? 512 DDR400 Giel

3. What Video Card???Gigabyte 9550

4. Have you ever played Nascar Racing Season 2002 or 2003 from Papryus on PC??? Yes, 2002

5. What would you rate it out of 10??? 7/10 (it gets that for its realism, but graphics suck.

6. Have you played it with a Wheel using Force Feedback?? no

7. What would you rate the Force Feedback out of 10??? n/a

8. Have you played GT4: Prologue with the Driving Force Pro??? no

9. What would you rate the Force Feedback of that wheel out of 10??? n/a

10. Was the Driving Force Pro worth every penny??? n/a but i assume it will be when i get it!!!

11. Which Game do you claim as being more realistic, Nascar 2002/2003 or GT4: P??? I couldnt choose. Nascar stuck to a single type of racing, with only 2 tracks with right turns on them it isnt very entertaining for me. GT4: P was more entertaining, more cars, better tracks, it was just more my style, but i can still whip a nascar around.

12. Do you prefer your PC or your PS2 (if need be state pros and cons of each)???

PS2: I prefer my ps2 coz its simple plug and play. I dont like the hassle of needing to spend heaps of cash to upgrade my pc to keep up with newer games, and i honestly cant pick any faults with the graphics of a ps2. PC's get riddles with spyware, viruses, but are excellent for online gaming, graphics, and internet use of course. But other then those things i dont use it, i use my ps2 and i find myself wanting to go back for more playing v8 supercars race driver 2 online, then any game on pc i have played.
