The song was written to close a 'geek convention' where leaders of the telecom industry met to discuss the current state of internet routing technologies and other similar things. To put it simply, the IP standard we have now won't last us much longer. They're running out of addresses now. IPv6 will remedy that by providing billions more IP addresses than we can currently handle, but there will come a day towards the future when even THIS isn't enough. This song is about that, to a certain extent anyways.
