The men who designed the Ssangyong Istana/Mercedes-Benz MB100 [ASDM] mid-size vans, a heavy-duty cargo van that is front-wheel drive.

Chris Bangle is the man to hate when he ruined the BMW marque. I like what he did to the Fiat Coupe that he designed before, but for BMW?! I rather see J.Mays design BMW.

And when Ford aquired Mazda. That pissed me off.

So what does that make guys who felt the need for 8 cylinders instead of 6 in their BMWs?

I wonder how much money it saved GM by putting it in the gas tank as opposed to placing it somewhere you could easily access it if it stopped functioning.

As far as I know, only GM does this.
I stay after my wife not to let the tank in the Venture get down below 1/4 tank.
I read somewhere, that measure would keep the pump under the gas and keep it from burning itself out.
And yes, it is a bear to change out the fuel pump on a GM car.:irked: Pray you have a near empty tank when the thing goes out.

Another thing I ***** about constantly, why is the distributor on the back of GM engines, and the harmonic balancer on the front.
That makes the job of changing the timing (accurately) a two person evolution. One to turn the distrubutor, one to hold/read the timing light.

I also read in Road & Track, that the BMW Z-8 was only available with an automatic trans. But I saw "The world is not enough" the other night and 007's Z-8 had a manual. What's up with that?

There were two versions of the Z8. The first run of cars were 396hp, 6-speed manual only. The powertrain was right out of the E39 M5.

The very small second run of Z8s were called "Alpina Roadsters", designed specifically for the American market. They were assembled at the Alpina factory with a 360 hp 4.6 liter Alpina designed V8, not a Motorsport V8. These cars were automatic only.

Oh, no.. we got both versions, Gil. Its just that BMW realized that rich American doctor's wives needed an automatic version, so they created one just for them.
