Nordschleife is one of my absolute favourite tracks in GT5. It took a lot of time to learn it, and still after hundreds if not thousands of laps I still have a bit to go before I can say that I master it. What I like about the track is that it can create some really big drama, especially at night!

This is an online race that I took part in a few days ago. I believe PP restrictions were about 550. On the same day I bought a new car which I really like, the Camaro SS '10 with race modification. I always had a prejudice against American cars, that they are only good in a straight line and terrible in corners. However, the race modded Camaro made me think again about that, because it's a dream to drive. I must also say that it looks awesome, that futuristic edgy design with a normal blue paint job, and Goodyear Eagle tires with white rims. A perfect mix between vintage and modern.

The actual race started out with a big fail from me, as I ran straight into a Zonda in front of me who had got a false start penalty. To my defense I must say that it wasn't the car directly in front of me and I didn't see it until the car in front of me passed through it.

The first corners in an online race on the ring is usually an inferno. I've learned that the best tactic to use in those corners is to play it safe. Don't go full speed if there is traffic on the track, because someone somewhere will spin off, and might just as well take you with him if you don't keep a safe distance. It's better to let the rushing people pass and watch them go offroad in their own dustcloud infernos.

Which brings me to why the ring is so great at night: The graphics effects makes it really thrilling! When someone spins off the road, and there's a huge bowl of dust which you can't see through, and you see the taillights of the car in front of you disappearing into the dustbowl and you can't be really sure what to expect on the other side. And the sparks from when the undercarriage strikes the tarmac, or when someone hits the barriers. The exhaust flames, flashing your lights to signal that you want to make a pass... and you can just barely make out the mountain sides as huge black shadows against the night sky. Looking back on the long last straight and seeing the headlights from other cars emerging from the darkness way back, twinkling like stars. Actually, online racing on the ring at night is the definition of GT5 for me. All the graphic effects are there, the thrill is there, the physics and the DFGT wheel is like a dream with all that.

In the race I started out as 10/10 (after the paint swapping with the Zonda) and ended up finishing 2/6. I recorded a video of it, which is of awfully low quality, more of a combination of video and still photage, and not exactly combining the best from the two worlds... Anyway, it is still viewable, you'll see my new favourite car (the blue Camaro #58), you'll see some of the effects I've mentioned. The video starts out in default replay view, and then it's the same lap again in bumper cam view.

I would like to say enjoy, but knowing the bad quality of the video I know you won't. So I say "endure" instead.

Having a great time treating the Nordschleife like a nightclub, I see. Say hello to deadmau5 for me.

Anyways, I am jelly about your experience, I have everything sans the DFGT. But it doesn't matter I guess. We should have Green Nightclub runs once in a while too.

I agree. The Nurburgring racing at night is an amazing experience. The one that makes you forget GT5's faults. Like uMadson? I have all of what you had except a DFGT. 👍
