Hi all! After seeing all the topics related to guitars, I thought I'd create a section for all the drummers out there on gtplanet.

Got a drum set? Post pics of it! If you feel like it, write a small review of your drums!

...or say whatever you wanna say about the drums!

Q. How do you know that the drum riser is level?
A. The drummer drools out of both corners of his mouth simultaneously.

I'm very sorry. I always wanted to be a drummer. My parents just wouldnt let me

haha nice...

It took me quite a while to convince my parents to allow me to start playing the drums a few years ago...

Q. What do you call someone who hangs out with musicians?
A. A Drummer.

A. A Drummer.

I was gonna say that one..

• What do you call a drummer that breaks up with his girlfriend?
Homeless.

• How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Five: One to screw the bulb in, and four to talk about how much better
Neil Peart coulda done it.

• Hey, did you hear about the drummer who finished high school?
Me either.

I dabble in drums. I can play simple rock beats and punk beats. I enjoy drumming, but I don't have my own kit so I don't get to play as often as I want to.

*edit: This one's awesome.

• What is the difference between a drummer and a savings bond?
One will mature and make money.

I don't have a set myself but when I am listening to metal or rock music with my Vic Firth headphones I find myself drumming because the headphones lower the other high sounds so it's easy to tell the beats. I hardly know anything about drums so I just "air" drum when I feel like it.

I just can't listen to other headphones other than my pair of JVC canal headphones and that pair is somewhat close to the quality that I am addicted to with the Vic Firth headphones. Too bad that the right phone on the JVC pair failed within a month but they were good headphones for the time. Now the JVC pair is just a backup pair incase my Vic's get stolen or something like that.

Thats how i started! 👍

My Sister started playing piano. And i always wanted to play drums. Mum said "Honey, there won't be any places where you can learn drums."
We pull up to the place where sister goes to learn piano. Lo and Behold, we turn around and see a Drum Store with Private Tuitions upstairs. :p
Been playing for 5 years now and have a 2nd-hand Pearl. Still, it's awesome :)👍

I love drums!! :D. I've been playing for about eight years mes thinks and I was on drumline for all 4 years at highschool. What really got me into drums was Travis Barker when I saw the video for Feelin' This I wanted a drumset. I pretty much learned how to drum by watching Blink-182 videos over and over again the mimick what I saw. If Travis played it, I can probably play it, enough to understand it atleast .

Here's one picture of my set. I have to get better ones later.

Yes I'm one of those people who has a set up just like Travis, but I find it a lot easer to play then the ones with the toms and at like a 90 degree angle with the snare.

More pictures. I have a DDrum set not an Orange County, but I do have and Orange County snare.

Wow, awesome drumset Nismo! 👍 I have 2 sets... one is a vintage ludwig set i dont use too much because its in really good condition and i dont want to ruin it. The other set i have which i use primarily is PDP set i got recently with Zildjian cymbals... I'll upload pics this weekend!

Hi, Although it may be late, its the only drummer thread on the site...
some info on my kit...

I use/have mounted
a Pearl vision VX Wine red kit, 12'',13'',16'',22''
Pro-mark Chris Adler Series sticks,
Tama HP200 double bass pedals,
Meinl Byzance heavy brilliant high-hats 14'',
Meinl classics 12'' splash,
Sabian AA brilliant crash 16'',
Sabian AAX studio ride 20'',
and 1 no name brand 13'' crash (That was originally a hi-hat from my first kit, but it actually worked better as a crash, though it has quick decay)
..
I also have a zildjian Z custom heavy power ride, but I dont use it much, (Although its fantastic in metal, or hard rock situations)
I also have a mounted (grabber arm) no name china (which was the bottom side of the 'crash' high-hat), although its mounted on, I don't use it much at all, just keep it there in the rarest occasions..

Gibraltar high hat stand, and 3 grabber arms/mounts.
Pearl boom stand,
2 No name straight stands.

Drums:
The kit sound great, I even have all stock heads, so I wonder how it'll be when I change them.
Ive been looking at coated heads, Remo emperors, and ive been wondering if I should try them out, or go with some regular clear E-G2's.. Im regularly a Metal guy, but have always had infinite appreciation for jazz drumming, and have never tried decent coated heads (because the ones ive tried have had ugly overtones, though I don't necessarily hate overtones, I just dont like sloppy sounding overtones)

Wine red finish Pearl VX?
For $499 (*Shell packs) (US) at musiciansfriend.com, my kit was a steal.. It was even cheaper than the exports, thats why I got it.. but When I was buying it, It seems like they didn't even have a picture of the Wine red finish... I thought it would look pretty sophisticated and classy. I even looked it up on google, but many of them looked as if there were some problems with the lighting/camera that it may have looked kind of wierd, But when I got it, I realized it wasn't what I expected, It looked like a candy colour wrap, thats almost crimson/red-purple rather than a deep, dark, maroon like 'Wine red'. I had looked at an orange colour too but decided on this one. Although the set looks Great, It just could have been better.

any Meinl Cymbal Fans here?!

14/6.5 Maple snare drum, By a brand named Sonic. Coated ambassador.
Finally my snare, for $60 (canadian), Its probably the best, and only maple snare drum you can find. The snare was supposedly New, but it was defenitely tuned unevenly and when I took it home I had noticed around where the snare sat, the shell was warped (Im talking about like a full centimeter/ 1 and 1/2 centimeters deep). So im forced to tune the bottom head higher around the warped areas, cause other wise its loose and wrinkled. As much as it may make it worse, I kind of have no choice, and it doesn't matter much taking it was only $60. Other than that the snare sounds incredible, There are areas where the quality feels cheap, but the sound itself is great. As for the look, Its a natural finish and has darker kind of rims (Although theyre not black, theyre still chrome), but im pretty sure they aren't die cast or nickel or anything- makes it look great.
'
the pearl Sensi-tone, steel 14/5.5 snare that came with my kit sounds like absolute crap, I like how its louder than my maple one, but the sound isn't warm (although its not supposed to), and rich, so thats why I got the maple snare.

As far as my idols go, Would have to be Jaska Raatikainen from Children Of Bodom, Matt cameron of soundgarden, Nick barker, Cobus Potgieter, and practically any jazz drummers like billy cobham, Buddy rich.

I think that pretty much covered everything. Thanks guys!
Nice jokes too 'Silverzone'
