Japanese Grand Prix to alternate between Fuji and Suzuka

The Fuji Speedway and Suzuka circuits are to host the Japanese Grand Prix on alternate years starting in 2009, it was announced on Saturday. Fuji will stage the 2007 and 2008 events, with Suzuka returning to the calendar the following season.

The new arrangement is the result of discussions between the two circuits and Formula One Administration Limited (FOA), and is designed to promote the continued success of Formula One racing in Japan.

"We have concluded an agreement on the alternation of the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix between Fuji Speedway and Suzuka Circuit, to ensure the progress and success of keeping Formula One in Japan over the long term,” commented FOA CEO Bernie Ecclestone.

Fuji is one of my favorite tracks and I think it would make for great racing.​
 
I love it. Suzuka is a wonderful track, and I'm happy to see it return. Fuji, I haven't seen it outside GT4's 2005 version, but it looks very interesting too, like all those mix-setup races promise to be...

We'll have a year Hockenheim and Fuji, and a year Nurburgring and Suzuka. That's one fast year, one slower :p
 
Those are two of my favorite tracks in GT4, I'm glad we'll be seeing both of them in F1.
 
Well i think this is a good move for F1. Alternating races between venues would mean that its not always the same circuit every year. Well if only the FIA could do that to the Italian GP between Monza and Imola. (but its less likely since Monza is liked by everybody.... :indiff:)
 
i am glad they have made sure suzuka gets gp's still. its just about my fav track behind the Nordschleife and spa. now if they just add the nordschleife and bathurst to the calander the season will be near on perfect.
 
Good to see those tracks. I was watching them on MotorsTV when SuperGT was racing on them. im glad with this news:tup:
 
actually I would have prefered if we didn't remove any tracks , let them all host a race int eh same year more races for us to watch :D
