The nominees for this year's The Game Awards have been released. This year, a jury of 29 news outlets, including Electronic Gaming Monthly, Entertainment Weekly, Eurogamer and Famitsu to name four, have submitted ballots to the Jury selection this year. Anyways, The Nominees are at this link, and a twitter account is required to vote on the fan awards this year.
 
Why did they lump racing and sports together? I get that racing is technically a sport, but it's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison between Forza Horizon 3 and the likes of PES, FIFA, MLB, etc.

Maybe it was because FH3 was the only racing game up for nomination, although they could've made a racing category with AC, DIRT Rally & F1 2016
 
Don't forget about TrackMania Turbo, which was fantastic.

Also, not that they aren't great games, but... it's a bit lame to see the GOTY section utterly dominated by AAA shooters. The only exception to that rule is Inside, and that feels somewhat disingenuous. It's obviously not going to win, it feels like it's just a token indie game put there to make people not notice that the real nominees are all AAA shooters.

And I think that Tokyo Mirage Sessions is more deserving of a Best RPG nomination than most of what's actually nominated... Love Witcher 3 to death, but an expansion to a game from last year that already got plenty of accolades? Legion... an expansion, however good it may be, to an MMO over a decade old? For the love of god, have a separate category for expansions, so that new full games can get the proper recognition they deserve. Hell, Pokemon Sun & Moon easily deserve to be in there for Best RPG too, since apparently the jury thought Pokemon Go was more deserving of the Best Handheld nomination.

If any of those win I would be surprised.

Also, I wonder how Angry Joe would react to his award...
