I am not an expert on how the ps2 works but I know there is a hard drive and that it can load a bunch into RAM so here goes my wishlist (sorry for repeats, i'm too lazy to read all the posts):
1) seamless online play. races should be scheduled and an online championship held. Have different online classes and series. Mabey homologate Real Life (TM) racing series. Like, if the indy 500 is coming up you could race in that against others. Any unfiled slots would be AI, and if more then the allotted number want to race make more versions of race dependent upon racer ranking. basically, a big online portion, only problem is bandwidth, but thats the developers issue, not mine
2) a 'subscription' system for a low cost where subscribers receive update cds with cars and sometimes tracks via cd-rom in the mail. Again, I don't know how this would be implemented but it sounds good.
3) better collisions!!!!! I want real collisions, not just hit the wall and stop.
4) Rollovers
5) skidmarks
6) better replay analysis, w/ lateral g's tire position on road, tire temp readout, car height, etc.
7) more upgrade options for cars. Or customizable upgradeing, twinturbos; one for low rpm and one for high, custom building of components (such as intake manifolds, valve size, valve timing, engine design, adjustable stroke, etc, (well, I'm majoring in mechanical engineering, i want that!!)
8) SAABs!!!!
9) computer interface for customizing stuff
10) more 'everyday' cars. Hey, I like them.
11) M3s, Ferraris, lambos, henessey vipers

12) weather, day/night transitions in race
13) damage (we all want this one)
14) no mor PINK CARS!!!!! (damn vitz)
Physics engine improvements:
1) tire distortions
2) locking brakes
3) loss of down force when drafting (may already be implemented, I only need to draft on straights).
4) perfect modeling of aerodynamics (every point on car used for wind, which is broken into molecules and worked out that way (I'm sure the ps2 can handle it

)
That's it. I better see all of it in gt4
