The Mission: Take all 73 cars in GT5P and complete 3 laps of Daytona Road Course in Time Trial in an attempt to get the best possible time for each car.

Behind the name: The Daytona Road Course is as iconic as the oval and Circuit de la Sarthe. Holding the oldest 24 Hour Race in the US, the Road course at Daytona was part of the Ford vs. Ferrari battle back in the day. Today it is home to one of the longest endurance races in the world: The Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. This grueling Grand Am race has seen it's fare share of battles. And to honor that, I'm doing this challenge.

My Progress so far:

Finished. All 74 Cars raced with the F1 coming out on top and the Citroen GT in second...followed by the Tuned Corvette and Amuse S2000 which got a tie.

I'm averaging about ten seconds of the record time, which isn't too bad, actually.

8 Cars down. So far the Ford Escort ST is in the lead with about a 2 second margine over the '96 Lotus Elise. Behind them is the Golf Mark IV followed by the Suzuki Swift and Cappuccino. Next are the Daihatsu Copen and OFC-1 and rounding out the list is the Suzuki Cervo. with a lousy 2:35.xxx time. Official times will appear at the end of the week.

I dont understand, you're taking all the cars in GT5p around DR to see which is fastest? Theres a world TT on DR at the moment, the R35 GTR has the fastest time.

'cause I wanna. Just like when GT5 comes out, I'll take most of the cars around the Top Gear Test Track....maybe all of them, if there's a trophy for getting all the cars...but...1000+ cars seems like a lot. It would take me forever.

In a similar vain I will be attacking the 'Ring - it's how I learnt it in GT4, by driving almost every car I purchased for at least a lap. I even did all the cars below 30bhp (there is a thread somewhere about it), except the 'Benz wagon, I gave up on that as it takes most of a day to do a lap.

Final times posted. It's finished with a few weeks to spare before GT5 comes out. The Citroen was the biggest let down. I don't like it's interior and it handles like a tank. At least it did on Sport tires. First Hydrogen powered car I've driven and will probably be the only one unless more are in GT5. (Mostly because Hydrogen is extremely inefficient, as was proven by the Mythbusters. And because of that the fuel cells or tank aren't going to be small and driving around with a load of hydrogen in a car isn't very safe. Even if you found a way to make it more efficient, you also have to figure out a way so it won't explode in a crash...and fuel cells aren't the answer, by the way.)

Anyways, it was fun.

You're making me want to try this myself...except I'd chose the Eiger because that's just my track.

Oh, and Blitz is spelled wrong, and there's no line between the Renault Clio V6 and the Ford Mustang. Just saying.

there's no line 'cause it's two separate photos. And I'm not going to change the spelling of Blitz, but thanks for letting me know. :P

I'll be doing something similar for GT5 only I'll add the Top Gear Test Track...and I'll run the cars as I get them...before I tune them up.

This is very cool SS, your challenge feels like a swan song for Prologue, though. :D

sam here, i didn't take any car under 70-80 hp round the ring, but other then that, almost avery car :)

Will do the same in GT5

Chris

From what I remember, the Ginetta G4 was the only sub 100HP car that had enough torque to make it around the ring in a decent amount of time. That little car has one of the highest power to weight ratios of any car in the game. It's also really small and really light.

And yeah, it does kinda feel like this a swan song for Prologue, but at least it was fun. :)
