Hi everyone. I thought that we should create an aviation club for grand theft auto here on GTP. Now for anyone who doesn't know, aviation means flying and aircraft etc.

This thread is intended for people to join the club and discuss flying in San Andreas as well as share stories of our flights, tips for begginers, pictures of san andreas from the air and our aircraft that we use for these flights across San Andreas. You may also share any aircraft you find.

I hope that this won't be one of these clubs that fail from the day they were born.

Anyway, please join if you like and lets get discussing! :)

Well the only GTA that contained flying with some degree of realism is San Andreas and that is rather old by now, and rumour has it that GTA IV won't have airplanes at all :grumpy:
So your excellent idea is a bit late.

Anyway here's a flying vid I made over a year ago which somehow turned into a classic

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-280761023034624911

I guess that goes in the (bad) advice for beginners category :dopey:

You've got some skills GTA_Phreak! That vid was awesome!
Also, thats a nicer and probably more fun way of playing the mission N.O.E.

Played San Andreas for the first time in a few weeks, had a blast flying through the restricted area dodging all the missiles in the Hydra.

Some great flying there GTA_Phreak! When I do that mission I just take the pussy's route across the sea:lol:

most people know of this
but im gonna say it anyway
at las venturas international
there is a huge hangar at the end of the runway
inside gta's version of the boeing 747 commercial airliner
if only they had better mititary planes thatn the hydra like game versions of the F-14 tomcat, the B-2 stealth bomber, the F-117 and F-22 stealth fighters and the A-10 warthog

That was an awesome job, GTA_Phreak. Aviation is my favorite thing to do in the game. That video gave me some ideas to try next time I pop the game in. Flying through the tunnel was nuts! I wish they would have given the Rustler a bomb to drop. The guns just aren't powerful enough. I blew a boat up once, but I had to make multiple passes.

 That was pretty cool even if I don't like GTA. Funny you went though like 6 different cities in a span of 5 min. or so.

I wanted you to hit a power line to see what happens though. :indiff:

figured since you go though the trees too. :indiff:

The trunk of the trees are solid, - but you can go through the leaves.
The horizontal bar of the traffic lights isn't solid either (but the vertical pole is).
The top of the fin of the Rustler isn't solid, - so you can plow that through things if you like (I think that goes for all the aircraft).

I think that is all nonsubstantial objects I might have exploited in the video. The hanger wires on the suspension bridge is definitely solid, - in fact I think even the gaps between them are solid.

Shame the link doesnt work for me anymore
:irked:👍

Unfortunately you're right :grumpy:
You can get it here as well: NOE Mercy
Beware that this is the hi-res version (71MB)

Here's something I've noticed about airplanes:

When you're climbing, they don't seem to stall if you keep the camera looking down. I haven't tested this 100%, but I can maintain a high degree of climb by looking down. When I last did "Dam and Blast," I was able to climb directly to the corona, and didn't have to circle at all.

Anyways, it might be a glitch. It's not useful in any of the air races, but may give more of an insight into exactly what is happening with the game. :)

Also, GTA_Phreak:

I finally got a 2:09 in Chopper Checkpoint. :) I'm really starting to appreciate how good your 2:08 Chopper Checkpoint and 2:00 Whirlybird Way point are. :) 👍
