A bit of a repeat thread, but I noticed that a lot of the NBA greats are the ones with incredible talent and prestige, but also the ones without rings, such as Charles Barkely or Reggie Miller. And so I ask, 'Which one person or what team could be the greatest to go without a championship?'
My own opinion is that either John Stockton (sorry, Karl) or Patrick Ewing are such people, as they have had such long careers where they worked hard but ultimately fell short of their ultimate goals. Lineups would be the 1997/1998 Utah Jazz team, with Karl Malone pairing with Stockton and support from Jeff Hornacek. Greg Ostertag was the bad apple, however. About the only reason that the Jazz did not win that year was because MJ and the Bulls were also prodigies of the time, and thus they stifled the Jazz to win again.
