The Theme LEC #53: Gumball
Chosen by: @MatskiMonk from a suggestion by @Nerazzurri

Original design for the Gumball 3000 or equivalent not-so-legal supercar rally!

Cars: Road Legal

Body parts/Widebody: Any

Liveries: Original

Unique restrictions: None

Bonus picture requirements: Two shots of your choosing

User made/showcase decals: Allowed

General Rules
  • You are only allowed to enter one livery, you must have made it yourself, and it must not have been entered in a GTS/GT7 LEC before.
  • Chat about the theme is encouraged, but you must follow the entry submission rules below, and please avoid posting other liveries where ever possible.
  • If judgements are needed regarding the suitability of the entry, these will be at the discretion of the member that selected the theme.
  • Standardised entry photos and entry layouts provide a level playing field and the guidelines must be respected.
  • Do not edit your photos.
  • You may be asked to share your livery if shenanigans are suspected.
  • Discussion about the LEC format in general should be taken to this thread: Future of Livery Editor Competitions
  • Blatant disregard for either the rules, or the spirit of the competition may result in your entry being disregarded.
  • The winner gets to nominate the next the theme from the Theme suggestions list, or can nominate a special theme related to a real world event.
Submission Rules
  • Entries should be made in their own post, your entry should contain the elements listed here, no more, no less
  • 1) The opening line should read FINAL ENTRY, and make it Red to help us find them for the poll. (FINAL ENTRY)
  • 2) Two main pictures (Mandatory Pictures), these may not exceed 640 pixels in either direction, but ideally should link to a larger version. See Image Posting below.
  • 3) In spoiler tags (
    ...
) you may include two further Bonus Pictures. These also may not exceed 640 pixels in either direction, and can ideally can link to larger versions.
  • 4) The content of Bonus Pictures might have been specified in the theme, if they have, you must respect the requirements stated - otherwise they can be Scapes, race photos or screencaps from within the livery editor.
  • Nothing else is needed. Explaining your entry is encouraged, but please do so in a second post - this isn't regarded as double-posting by the moderators. Including anything else in your submission post only makes things take longer.
Mandatory Picture Settings
  • Mandatory pictures use pre-defined Scapes.
  • One of your two mandatory pictures must be a front quarter view, the other must be a rear quarter view.
  • Your two mandatory pictures must use either of the following locations (it doesn't matter which location you use for which view), "Pit Lane / Oita - Japan" or "Aomori Museum of Art / Aomori - Japan"
  • How to set up the scene:
Spoiler: READ THIS: How to set up the scene
Image Posting
  • Images must be no bigger than 640 pixels wide or tall, and click through to higher resolution versions.
  • Images should be hosted ideally on GTP, via the Media section. Images hosted by Flickr or similar will also be accepted. Go here for advice on how to do this.
  • Do NOT use the 'Attach Files' function below the reply box when submitting your options.
  • Again, do NOT edit your images. They must be as they were when taken in Scapes/Photomode.
Deadline, on or by: Sunday, 3rd August

Good luck everyone!

Ngl I planned to stop making liveries but this theme is really cool and tempting. I already have a design in mind for the Aventador.

After noticing in the rules that it had to be an original desige there was only one car i could think of doing....the URUS.

But i had to fit my other four Replica's from that year in the bonus shots.
Delorean
LFA
Chiron
812 Superfast

FINAL ENTRY

It's back to the Polo once more, I thought it deserved to go on a little adventure across Europe.

This design required some iteration, starting with a bunch of brush strokes in black and cyan to create a gradient effect so that the back of the car would be solid black. Then I decided that I wanted to pixelate that effect, so I created a bunch of custom decals in the shape of parallelograms and placed them corresponding to the density of the brush strokes, but normalised to a square grid. The result is a pattern that is both in order and disorder.

To clarify, are (close) replica liveries excluded from this round?

I'll get an entry up for this soon.

Anybody else working on anything?

Welp, it is what it is. I had a few ideas that didn't really belong anywhere, so I thought this was a good opportunity to mash them together. If I did the Gumball, I certainly wouldn't be against a controversial wrap. Might make a few more tweaks over the weekend, but wanted to get something up so we have more entrants than podium positions!

The short answer is I don't think I'll have something ready I'm afraid, I had a thought and started something but it was over-ambitious. I'll see if I can repurpose something at the weekend, but I don't do a lot of original designs

Stunning work on yours btw; who is the sacred heart character on the hood?

FINAL ENTRY

PS5 PRO

Proudly present you the NPC entry for the Gumball 3000 :)

Interesting theme! Good luck to everyone, who at least invested more than one coffee break like me for his entry

PS4 Base
I was in indecision for a long time weather I should enter the MC20 or a (swapped)Renault Clio which I was driving a lot lately, and where I used this very specific kind of pinky orange in combination with super matte black contrasts for the first time...in the end I mixed that coulor scheme with a livery I just made for the MC20, and threw on some decals that have been used in recent Gumball races...
