Do you have too many adapters plugged into in your power strip? This decidedly Flinstonian piece of office equipment eliminates the need for electricity by using hamster power.

As little hammy pedals his butt off, he generates his own shredded paper bedding. Fortunately, this isn’t a real product, rather it’s part of artist Tom Ballhatchet’s installation, planned for display next week in Milan, Italy.

Not feeling environmentally friendly? I suppose you could always defeat the purpose of this device by hooking up one of these USB powered hamster wheels.

Then... errh... use astronomically low gearing? Like one turn of the shredder for every ten turns of the hamster wheel?

Forced induction perhaps?

Would be seriously awesome if it worked.

Tie a bit of hamster food just infront of it's face then watch and smile. :)

Guinea Pigs are the tow trucks of the small animal world.

You should try walking one on a leesh sometime.

I would agree with you, but they're slow. The paper would revert back into a tree by the time they even started shredding it. Degus have the size and the speed to get the job done. Think of a gerbil taking steroid and meth bombs 24/7.

Or you could just skip the whole wheel thing and just start handing your paper to a couple of ferrets.

Yeah Degus' are great, untill they fall into a diabetic coma.

And if you want to speed a guinea pig up just do the old stick-and-carrot truck, but use a dandelion leaf instead. They'll be after it faster than half-blind pot addict.
