Don't believe everything you read in Import Tuner and SCC.

Vipers have almost zero reliability problems and they are extremely durable for track use, particularly the '96-up GTS coupe. A Viper that handles well is NOT a "rare sight", since bone stock it can pull almost a G - 0.98 to be exact - on the skidpad and average 70mph through the 600 ft slalom cones. Grassroots Motorsports picked it as their favorite budget supercar available in the US.

You can get a used Viper in the $35,000-$45,000 range. That's a whole lotta beef for that kind of money. I'd rather have a 7-year-old Viper GTS than a new Yukon...
 
id rather get a new evo rather than a 7 year old viper...good point though neon..lol kinda missed that...yo night mage..try out the fd..its a decently hadling car and very agile for drifting...the lm version is too fast for me i reach over 140mph before the last turn in rome 1.
its too fast//my mind cannot handle all that information at once :lol:
shift+gas+brake+countersteer+ speed+rpm+road= white mushy stuff in my skull..:lol:

and 450 hp from 8 litres is nothing if you compare rx7 to it...
1.3 litre=255hp(real life fd) if viper had same power:litre ratio it would have 1569.***** hp..i did the math:lol: lol so its not a well crafted machine like most people think. but the looks are to die for...:D
 
what about the tvr tuscan speed six, I think that handles good for a fr car.

Do viper really handle that well? MOST not all american car dont handle as well... alot are built for power such as like Muscle cars they are built for 1/4 mile and things... and its true that MR do handle better than FR look at the NSX it was named best handling car or sumthing is 2002... i forgot what it was but i can find out just too lazy... well im not saying viper or american cars dont handle good... just i never thought of american cars as handling cars... can you compare the skidpad of viper and lets say a skyline GT-R or RX7 or any car that is known to be a good handler.. i wanna see the difference... thanks

Vipers- In real life stock Vipers handle very poorly. They are twitchy, and the tolerance between understeering off the track, and spinning the car is VERY small. The Viper in stock form is not track ready. They have massive overheating problems, brake fade galore, and they do have reliability problems. Once you start to modify a viper, you will need to spend at least the cost of the car new to turn it into an 800hp car that is drivable. Vipers are a serious car for people with serious budgets. You can spend less money elsewhere to get a much faster, more relaible car.

Z06- I could tell you what a POS this car is, but to really appreciate it, just go talk to real Z06 owners. They over heat after just a few laps, and the steering balence is not great. the suspension is a complete joke, and the engine is weak. If you want to lay down 450hp, plan on spending about 10-20k on top of the cost of the car. Buy a new Z06, you are looking at least 27k additional to make it decent on a track.

now before anyone says anything like "you just don't know how to handle the power" or accuses me of being a ricer, I have driven both of these cars more than once, around more than one track, In both stock and modified forms. My personal supra makes 765 rwhp, and I drive it everyday, and track it every weekend. Bottom line is if you want to go fast around a track, look at a Silva (240sx with a skyline motor, or Silva motor swap works like a charm), Supra, or older 911 turbo. Great cars, great power, handling, and reliability. Not to mention you can blast around a track all day for well under 50k.
 
For an American car, I think the Viper handles pretty well. It is a little heavy, but if you can learn to throw it around the track, it really is a good car.

im not sure the viper and z06 would be all that popular with people if they had no value on the track whatsoever. as for reliabilty the viper has won its class at le mans more than once, and you need serious reliabilty to get through that. though i've never driven any of the cars in gt3 so i wont argue with someone who has :confused:
 
This thread is confusing now, are we talking about the Viper in the game or in real life????Please choose one stop bouncing back and forth cause GT3 is not life :lol: (maybe for some)
 
I was talking about in real life, as the original poster had asked about real life perofrmence.

Try to remember that you can not compare the production version of a car to the racing version. The le Mans vipers were specific built race cars. About the only thing that was stock was the some of the body shell. The engine was still the 5.0L 10 cyl. but they are stripped to the block, The blocks are sleeved and re-machined to handle bigger cranks, bearings, oil pumps, thrust bearings, bigger rods, pistions, etc. etc. Nothing on those engines are stock. The transmissions, suspension, sub-frames, brakes, steering, and electrical systems were are custom fabbed

Z06's have no track value, even when modified they are slow. So unless you got a few million to blow on a C5R, buy something else.

Vipers have mid-life crisis appeal, and are just not track worthy stock.
 
750hpsupra If you've got enough cash to modify a supra to that extent, you can certainly afford a wee digital camera.

I'd be happy to host the images if you can snap photos of it.

I've got serious doubts about a 750 hp car as a daily driver. Much less being legal. What insurance company do you have? Give us something to believe that claims as outlandish as yours are believable.

What tracks and where have you driven all these laps? Please fill us in.

It almost seems you're feeding us a bit of a stretch here.

Why do people insist on lying about their cars? Do they really think people will just believe them? Pitiful.

Last night I drove the Oreca Viper around Deep Forest and it handles like a dream, like it's on rails. It is definitely the best FR in the game. If you don't think so you have a bad setup.
