Malapropism: verbal slip ups and gaffes. I want to know your favourites! I just read in the news there that George Bush has had another incident of misspeak:
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we..."
Maybe Bush is best known for his malapropisms but there are plenty of other ones out there. Hell, I even do it sometimes. The classic one I came out with when I was younger was, "I'll need to put on some sun-burn lotion!" I felt like a right donkey.

Any other peeps on here have a favourite or made an idiot of themselves with a malapropism? I'm sure there will be a few more Bushisms.

Dan Quayle's political career was a malopropism wrapped up inside an aneurysm. Whatever that means.

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."

"If we do not succeed, then we run the risk of failure."

"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy - but that could change."

George Bush looks like Mark Twain when you compare him to Dan Quayle.

One word- John Motson

(I secretly intergrated my own Malapropism into that)

Some more from George Bush:

"The law I sign today directs new funds... to the task of collecting vital intelligence... on weapons of mass production."

"It will take time to restore chaos and order."

"I am mindful not only of preserving executive powers for myself, but for predecessors as well."

"We need an energy bill that encourages consumption."

"We are making steadfast progress."

When was the last time we had both an intelligent and charismatic Republican president? Or vice president, for that matter?

The other day it was hot so we were playing Boules in the garden.

I was thinking of golf (teeing-off) when I was about to throw the jack to start the end.

If you didn't guess it, what I said was : "Is it my turn to jack off?"

Believe it or not. True story.

Here's a little something from George W.-- "I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein."—Washington, D.C., May 25, 2004

Here's another--"I Mentioned Early On That I Recognise There Are Hurdles, And We're Going To Achieve Those Hurdles."

Well, okay. W Bush is smart, but clearly neither intelligent nor charismatic. HW Bush was intelligent, but not particularly charismatic. We all agree Ron Reagan was charismatic, but he wasn't particularly intelligent by the time he was president. Ford was a mistake. Nixon was very intelligent but rivals Alan Greenspan for lack of charisma. I'm way too young to comment on the charisma or intelligence of the rest.

But then again, when was the last time we had a Democrat who was both charismatic and intelligent? Clinton was both, but before that - Carter was a freaking loon, Johnson was one of the more boring people of the 20th century, so Kennedy. Kerry's certainly not both intelligent and charismatic, though Edwards is.

I hate this forum. I'm lucky to make three posts a day in here, but it's typically zero or one.
