HI. I just wanted to highlight a little detail that many of you are aware of anyway. But I am certain that many still do wrong - probably for the same reason I have done in the past: Lazyness.
I am talking about placing the monitor too high. In my case I use a 42" LCD TV (Sony) and did just leave it were it always is - on top of a piece of furniture. I put my racing rig in front of that furniture and moved it as close as possible to the TV. And I was happy with that.
But I always knew that this simply wrong. I needed to look upwards when I am sitting in my rig. So I did a little experiment and did buy a small table so I can place my TV directly in front of my rig - or even better on the front of my rig.
Let me tell you: That change of placement makes a lot of difference! Now I have to look where I am supposed to looking in real life: straight forward or even a little bit down to see the road.
Also getting closer to the TV makes the picture bigger. All in all this little table was the best change for my rig in a long time. Unfortunately I always have to lift my TV down on the little table for playing. But sometimes I will come up with a more permanent solution.
Here ist the TV on top of the original piece of forniture:
And now on top of the rig:
Both photos were taken from the headrest of the rig - so you can see exactly what I am seeing when I am sitting in the chair.
So if you never tried to change the placement of your monitor - give it a try!
