The Insane & Awesome Car Thread

Fortunately there are some nuts and crazy people out there, and luckily some of them have passion for cars. This is the thread for their creations!

Alfa Romeo 164 Pro Car

Wikipedia
The Alfa Romeo 164 Pro-Car made in 1988 was a 600 hp V10-engined racing car. It was planned to race in a special racing series (as a support event to Formula One Grands Prix). Alfa was the only manufacturer who made a car for this series before it was canceled. Only one chassis with an Alfa Romeo V10 was built by Motor Racing Developments Ltd. the company behind the Brabham Formula One team, which was owned by Alfa Romeo at the time.

Just awesome.. Can't sit still while watching this. Too bad he talks a bit too much though.

Over 1 minute of boring burnouts? Can we see some street action?! I bet that thing would fly down a strip.

Whilst we're on sleepers, everyone's heard of the Supervan 3 F3000 engined Ford Transit van, and the WRC Transit built a few years ago. However, this is my favourite modded Transit of all. I give you this 1990 model, acting as a Goodwood maintenance vehicle:

Looks like nothing special. Three quaters view might help:

Recognise those wheels?

Yep, it's a Transit with XJ220 running gear.

Fastest run in the hands of Justin Law was a 63.14 on Sunday afternoon - less than 3 seconds away from a Porsche 917!

That Mini just screams pure awesome.

Who said that the cars have to have loads of power to be insane and awesome though? I present to you, the monster Ka:

Though some power is nice, right?

Captain Jack McClure's Rocket Go-Kart Dragster

Aaron Green
Here is the incredible Rocket Go Kart of Captain Jack McClure. Certainly one of the wildest drag racing vehicles of all time. This pint sized beast toured the United States for three years in the early 1970’s and ran as quick as a 5.95 at 250 miles per hour on its last ever run with McClure at the wheel at Orange County International Raceway in Irvine, California, before he retired it at the end of the 1973 drag racing season. He never did crash it, of course you would only crash it once!!

Absolutely chilling. Sheer British lunacy from the late forties. The BRM V16.

I know that the car pictured in the vids mounts the ill-fated H16, but this is the only clip I have found with an in-cabin soundtake.

Get a pair of good headphones and crank the numbers to eleventy.

Dahlback Golf without front bumper. Judging from the diameter of the piping the turbo is "adequate".
