Anyone else seen this? It actually looks like a promising film.
Starring Ewan McGregor (Star Wars: Episode I and II) and Scarlett Johnasson (Lost In Translation) and directed by Micheal Bay (Pearl Harbor; Armageddon)

Here's a little overview:
Overview
Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the “The Island”—reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet. But Lincoln soon discovers that everything about his existence is a lie. He and all of the other inhabitants of the facility are actually human clones whose only purpose is to provide “spare parts” for their original human counterparts. Realizing it is only a matter of time before he is “harvested,” Lincoln makes a daring escape with a beautiful fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson). Relentlessly pursued by the forces of the sinister institute that once housed them, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a race for their lives to literally meet their makers.

The one thing that you may love about it is that a special Cadillac is going to be in it. D*mn, it sounds mean.

I'm a huge fan of Ewan McGregor, and also love the storyline of this movie. I'm definitely checking this one out in the theater. :)

Sounds interesting then again... A.I., Bicentennial Man, and etc. Why do people insist on making the same movie over and over?? :dopey: Ex. War of the worlds a.k.a. Armagedon.

I saw an TV commercial for the "Island" today. They totally gave away the entire plot of this movie. I couldn't believe it. Also, I noticed that Regal Cinemas, which runs most of the movie theaters in Oregon, raised the ticket prices to $8.75. Now, I'm definitely renting this movie, when it's out on DVD.

How are those movies same things over again?

I just watched this with my GF tonight and it is one of the best action packed suspense thriller I have seen in a while. It reminds me of the Matrix, demolition man, and Minority report all combined into 1 movie. Very very good IMO. Some of the explosions and special effects were very impressive. I highly recommend that if you get a chance, check "The Island" out for sure.
I could easily watch this movie over and over again and still feel satisfied. 👍 👍 👍

It reminded me of THX1138...... I liked it, but this thing is like a huge, multi-corporation commercial. Don't get me wrong, I think Puma tracksuits are great, but the product placements in this movie is out of control. I don't want to pay for the ticket/DVD rental, watch commercials before the movie starts, then see the commercials in the movie too. 👎

Ewan McGregor's great as usual and Scarlett Johansson........ let's just say she looks great with blonde hair. Additions of Djimon Hounsou, Sean Bean, Steve Buscemi and Michael Clarke Duncan didn't hurt either. I thought the sets and locations looked great, and special effects were top notch. Base story is interesting, but when you get down to the details, it's very far fetched. Another movie with so much promise brought down in hands of a director who was either lazy or mediocre. I'd give it a "C".

I saw it a while ago, and I agree with CamaroBoy. Fantastic. Obe of the best movies I've seen in a LONG time.

Very nice storyline, top notch effects*. It did seem like GM and Dodge played a huge part in this movie.

*SPOILER: The scene with the falling R Logo was very cool. 👍

I saw it on DVD a few weeks ago. I foun it very enjoyable.Catch this one if you get a chance. 👍

From what I saw it seemed like a good movie. Somehow I thought it would be a totaly different movie just looking at the title. It is alot more complicated than that. I just have to watch it fully one day. Oh, and there is nice cars getting smashed up in it. 👍

Mr. McShake
I don't know about the movie, but Scarlet Johansson is my chick of the month.
Yeah!

Scarlet Johansson is fine I'll give her that.

As for the movie, I think it wen't too much down the action film path, sure the film needed action but imo if the plot wen't deeper, if they used the plot to it's full potential the film could have been superb.

the movies alright..

Nothing spectacular, but nothing horrible..

it's hard to believe that in the future.....everyone is driving rx8's 300c's and magnums....

and that a magnum can keep up with a cadillac Cien..

and the only color "lexus concepts" come in is blue..

but other than that it's alright...

kinda funny how they treat the clones...

I thought the island was pretty good, nothing to special. But the 2 main car chases were utterly superb. Just like the one's in Bad Boys II.

Its such a shame this completely flopped, i love Micheal Bays style of film making. Over the top action, but (usualy) with a good story & great actors (see THE ROCK).

PS Scarlett Johansen = PHWOARR!

No Spoilers In This Post

I saw it last night. I'd say it was worth seeing, but barely. There are way too many problems with the plot, it's not even REMOTELY reasonable to assume this would happen - at least, not like it does in the movie. There are technical problems, there are logical problems, there are plane old common sense problems, there are acting problems... this is the kind of movie that falls apart under scrutiny.

But, as I said above, despite its problems it's worth seeing. The main reason for that is that the concept is great. They could have made a really fantastic movie out of this - it really gets you thinking.

It was good entertainment, but if it was done less as a typical action movie and more a deep drama/thriller with action in it, I think it would have been a hell of a lot better.

Plot? What plot? If you can call plot the mere excuse for thousands of big explosions and chasing scenes - a.k.a. the only things Michael Bay is good for - then, yeah, it indeed has a plot

This movie would have been better in somebody else's hands.

Better yet, it would have even been better if nobody made it at all.

Don't watch it and waste 2 hours of your time in something worth a little more doing: pretty much anything ;) :D

The Wizard.

I actually like Logan's Run a lot more years ago, dated now, but I liked it then. Funny you should mention Logans Run because it's on TV sometime this week, can't recall when but I caught a glimpse of it in the TV guide.
