Alright!

Before I get heat for the title, I say it's the "last of it's kind" for a reason. As far as i've seen of this car, the Jaguar XJ220 LM, has had the same exact livery since GT2 and it was a Race Modification from the "good ole' days." Minus the fact we lost the "Yellow" color option it also had. But for the most part it's been the same, and only updated graphically. But it has kept the same "design" over the last decade and change.

It became it's own model in GT3, and has existed that way ever since. Also it's a fantastic car to drive still, and if you haven't do experience it. :)

But to continue, is there any other gem of a car model like the XJ220 LM that has stood the test of time in this franchise?

Atleast one GT-R and MkIII Supra might share this distinction. The '97 EK Civic Type R is also a car that has been in GT since GT1 and is now even a premium car.

I think we're looking for PS1 era "RMs" that have lived on as their own entities in later games (when the race modification feature was removed / abandoned - the "return" in GT5 is not a return at all, it is a nod to the level of customisation PD want in the game, hence its absence again in GT6).

Anyway, isn't there an FTO LM that is like that?

"The" Castrol Supra is possibly one also, but that might be bending the "rules".

The Lister Storm race mod yielded the racing version proper, I seem to recall, and the road car disappeared but we kept the racing car on PS2.

There were one or two touring car race mods, too, I remember the E46 3 series was one - not sure how similar it was to the 320i touring car from GT4. I don't think it was in GT3 - is that breaking the rules, also?

He never gave a clear definition though, only an example of a machine that has been here since forever.

There is only one thing I don't get and it's the XJ220LM's exhaust. It's not the first time I've seen that kind of exhaust tips (mostly on hot rods), but I don't know how they work or their name. They don't seem to have a hole for the fumes to come out.

The C4 Corvette Grand Sport has been in every main GT game.

Yes!! This. My favorite Corvette gen and model. It was also the first car I ever drove in GT (and the first time I ever played GT). It was in the GT1 demo along with an old Impreza STi. I don't know if someone remembers but the disc came with the PS1. It also had MGS1 Demo (another game I fell in love with since then) among others.

As for what car I love has endured ever since GT1, I think this one:

Drives horrible, but it's the kind of car I like. I don't remember if the GT1 version was the 6 cylinder or the V12 though.

The TVR Cerbera Speed 6 (GT1-present) and the Tuscan Speed 6 (GT2-present/now a premium car) are two TVRs that have survived so far.

I think the Supra 2.5 GT (MA70) is also a survivor that is now a premium car as well.

The FTO LM has... evolved? Shall I say? It has gone through very different visual design stages than what it looks like now than what it was in GT1. I wish we kept the GT3 version!

One car I honestly forgot when making this post. Kind of shameful as I have used it a fair bit. Is the GT-R LM.

I have very well seen the type of exhausts on the XJ220 before, mainly at various historic events. I never understood the method, but nor have I questioned it either. But you have reminded me of it.

I remember that there was "vents" off the side where the "cap" would be installed. If anyone knows maybe someone could express more knowledge on this method!

I would love to know too. I don't see the advantage of that type of exhaust, since it must put some strain on the engine. Maybe I'm wrong.

What you guys are looking for is called "Tunable Disc Technology" patented by Supertrap.

http://www.supertrapp.com/product_sections/cat.asp?CatID=63

Basically it's a stack of washers that are spaced in between so the gasses exit from between the discs. You add or remove discs to change the backpressure in the exhaust system

The XJ220 race car was inspired from a real version of the car..

220_Racing.jpg

so if it's inspired from a real car you should add all the real race cars that didn't change trough the series:
Escudo,Toyota GT one,Ford Escort Rally,R390 race car,GT40 Race car,Lancia Delta,Lancer Evo Rally Car ,ecc....

This car as well, but you only buy one that looks like that in GT1, but you can paint one to look like that in GT6 (with the same color as well).

The Speed 6 wasn't in GT1, that was the original AJP V8, but haven't the Griffith 500 been along for the entire series as well?
I don't remember if the GT1 version was the 6 cylinder or the V12 though.
That was the original supercharged straight 6.

I think this looks quite like the Power House Amuse GT1 (non turbo version) In GT2 it has the same three colour options as the Amuse (white, gray and black)

And the Shelby Series 1 and Honda Mobil 1 NSX has survived since GT2

Nismo GT-R LM (at least the road car)
Mazda RX-7 LM
Mitsubishi FTO LM
Toyota Castrol Supra
Honda Castrol Mugen NSX
Citroen Xsara Rally Car
Ford Escort Rally Car
Ford GT40 Race Car
Honda NSX Raybrig JGTC '00
Lotus Motor Sport Elise '99
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Rally Car
Nissan Pennzoil Nismo GT-R JGTC
Subaru Impreza Rally Car '99
Tommykaira ZZ II
Toyota GT-One RaceCar TS020 '99
Toyota Supra Denso Sard JGTC

I am pretty sure that all of these have been around since GT2. Some of them have changed slightly (e.g. the FTO and RX-7 LMs) but the same general car is still present today.

All the JGTC cars you referred to are different years in GT6, so not exactly all the same.

Awfully close though, aren't they?
The Denso Supra, Raybrig NSX and Pennzoil GT-R should be identical. The Castrol Supra and Castrol NSX (and the Oreca GTS-R for that matter) will be a different...but still close enough that I'd consider them classics.

Different year Mobil 1 NSX!

The GT2 versions were from 1999. The Mobil 1 NSX, and much like all the other older JGTC cars are from GT3 and GT4!

The only JGTC car to exist from GT2 is the 1999 Pennzoil GT-R ;)

Turns on GT6, check.
Buys 2001 Viper, check.
Paints it a metallic blue, check.
Retains white stripes, check.
Fangasm, check.
