The EVO 7 makes up for its homeliness by being very quick and it handles well. Run the 0-400M run with a fully tuned EVO and Subaru. The EVO will kick the Subie to the Curb. Handling is a toss-up. The Evo 5 & 6 are the best looking though.
The Subie is also pleasing to the eye. I guess it's a matter of personal opinion.

i ranboth in the 1/4 and the times were real close but i did see that the Evo ran about 2 tenths quicker.

I think I mentioned in another thread (rally related) that the Evo VII isn't actually based on what outside Japan is the Lancer - it's actually based on a Japanese market only (well, plus a couple of small Asian markets) car which is the next size from the Lancer called the Cedia (although in typical Japanese confusing fashion the car is marketed as part of the Lancer range, even though it's bigger)

IMO I think the Evo VII is the best looking of the bunch. When I first saw it, I too thought it was ugly. But as I've looked at it more and more, I've decided that it looks better than all the others. I guess its one of those deals where it grows on you.

I must admit I quite the like the styling of the Evo VII - it looks a lot more integrated that the previous Evo models - more like it was designed that way, instead of being a basic small sedan with wings and a front airdam stuck on it.

Why did mitsubishi bring the crapa§§ 120hp lancer over here anyway? Was it just a scouting thingie to see if ppl would actually buy it....and if they did.....they would bring over the evos? I have driven a tuned lancer, and it handles quite nicely....but.....eh. Id rather drive a civic.

Emm...I drove the Lancer thats over here and I used to drive a Civic. The Lancer handles better.

...but is way underpowered compared to everything else in its class. The plain Lancer weighs as much as a Neon but is powered like a Civic; not a good combination. The styling is mediocre but acceptable. And the OZ "Rally" version is just priced ridiculously. For about a grand more than that (and almost 10 grand less than the proposed Evo) I'll be able to get a 210+ hp Neon SRT.
