I just saw a TV doku about the legendary "Wembley goal" by Geoff Hurst. England beat Germany 4:2 in the World Cup final in 1966. It is still unclear if the 3:2 in overtime was a regular goal.
Some scientists in that doku tried to analyse whether the ball was completely behind the line or not by using modern technology. Well, they couldn´t tell. Even if the ball might not be completely behind the line on the ground, it maybe was while falling.
The doku said the ref and the linesman could not see.
They also interviewed some of the players of both teams. The english players still believe it was a goal while the german players believe the ball did not cross the line.

As a German I think it was no goal, but the english team was definitely better that day. They deserved to win, no matter if the decision was correct or not.
