well i noticed the thread had been closed due to going off topic... so i thought id start this one up.

i tuned a motorsports elise to the max and entered it into the el capitan endurance race (re-starting a couple of times to get the motorsports elise opponent...) and let my b-spec driver have a go (97/87/82 in skills).

using hard tires to minimise pitstops, my driver is now, after ten laps, more than 7 seconds behind the opponent elise!
and i brought him to first by settin him on level 4 for two and a half laps (thats when he FINALLY got to first place)

there is definately something wrong with this elise... its not just a misprint in the replay, it probarbly has more horsepowers than a max tuned motorsports elise...

Horsepower isn`t everything. The Lotus Elise is a leightweight car, and if you`ve given it maximum power and reduced the weight too much the tires won`t grip. A stiff suspension will just make it worse

The Elise is a MONSTER on that course! It almost beat my B Spec driver who was driving a fully tuned RX-7 (FD) Spirit. He only won by 1.27 seconds!

What is the A-spec rating for this combo? I tried this last night in a Chrysler Crossfire - tons of fun (see posting below on A-spec stuff if your interested)

Yes, the Elise is the beast of that event, but this guy can take him:

Use a Z06 Corvette. Max it out. Get all the best drivetrain, brake, engine, chassis, and lightweight options. Buy the roll cage stiffener if the car is new, but if it isn't, get the Rigidity Refresher Plan first before you add the stiffener. Don't forget the oil change if its new.

You'll need about 500 HP. More than that may be hard to drive on the Sport tires. Definitely go to GT Auto and put a wing on it, then go into Settings and max the downforce front and rear.

Get Sport Hard tires, and use this chassis setup:

http://www.gtvault.com/SetupDisplay.cfm?SetupID=0402J8445086927CA06240441

I use all those settings, but I turn the TCS up to 7.

To set up your transmission, many Gran Turismo players use the old GT3 Tranny Trick: Slide the Final adjuster full right to 5.00. Now slide the Autoset right to 25, then back left to 1 and leave it there. Your six-speed now has the closest-possible set of gears. Now go back and set the Final ratio for El Capitan, which as I recall was something like 3.80.

Have fun!

Well, dunno what probs your actually talking about... Because I had no probs at all with this race. Okay, did it in A-spec with my Ford GT '05, non tuned, default settings. I drove laptimes op 1m49, the Elise had times of 1m55, my B-spec driver, had to go away for a while, so put it for 10 laps or so on b-spec, but my b-spec driver drove 1m55 as well. So, if you don't wanna have troubles this race, just buy a Ford GT '05, or win the Tsukuba Wet on hard to win one. Then you won't get any trouble in B-spec, and certainly not in A-spec.:) ;)

ummm... i think that all of you are missing the point here... im not complaining about it being tough... i can easily beat it with my mercedes sl65 amg...
heres the point!
my b-spec driver (wich is quite good by the way) cant even get close to that motorsport elise when hes driving a FULLY TUNED UP VERSION OF THE SAME CAR!

its not that the b-spec driver is worse... it even accelerates better than my fully tuned up motorsport elise! :scared: (and i even fiddled around with the suspension and gearbox to make it as good as i could for that map...)

so in short... the motorsport elise driven by the ai in el capitan endurance is better than a fully tuned up version of the same car it seems...

That's with more cups I believe. Specially the Manufacturer cups. Like the 206 Cup, Opel Speedster Cup, without tuning, you're nowhere. But the Saleen Cup for example is very easy. Dunno how it's possible that that Lotus is so much better... There's been a thread about this Lotus before, maybe there's an answer. Dunno. :)

Horsepower nowadays means so little, for eg, 400BHP Superbird vs Standard Subaru Impreza, the Impreza would win easily.

I think that this example also has to do with the age of the cars. The superbird is from the 70s (?) and the Impreza is from the 90s. So, the cars now are leighter, easier to control etc etc. But HP doesn't say so very much lately indeed.:)

well... the other thread about this car got closed because it got off topic (so lets not get off topic ok?)

änd saying that horsepower means little isnt an answer to why my motorsports elise with 130hp more and about 100kg less weight cant get close to what is supposed to be a stock motorsports elise...
the preview replay sais it has 500 or so hp... that would make a huge difference compared to a 200hp one (wich is what the stock is supposed to have)

Haha. Geez a bit of an overkill there don't you think? I easily won using my slightly modified Elise 111R (230ish hp?) with st.3 lightweight, full-race suspension, brakes, sports medium tires and transmission stuff. Ended up lapping the motorsport elise (averaging around 1.49.XX - 1.50.XX for my lap times). That was a 200pt. race aswell

Guys...

It's really simple. PREVIEW the race until you get the Elise. What's the HP of the Elise that the computer displays? It's nearly 500hp. ALL of the cars in this race are just shy of 500hp (with the one exception being a stock 65 AMG which is already over 500hp) because the computer sets up the race that way.

But, if you buy a MotorSport Elise, it can't be souped up anywhere near 500hp.

So, the Elise in the El Cap race is either a Bug or a Frankenstein car, depending on your point of view...

thats what im getting at...

and the fact that Trueno_SS beat it in his elise 111r proves a bit of my point actually... it wouldnt have been a 200pt race if that motorsport elise was stock...
i have been able to beat the motorsport elise with most of my cars... but im talking about beating it with b-spec (wich, IMHO, is the only way to compare an ai driven car to your car since the ai is so sucky)

whoever came up with htat setup doesnt no how t setup cars very well at all, max out hte downforce??? Dude el capitoan has few ultra high speed corners & a long straight, probably putting about half to 3 quarter downforce rear would be better with aobut half front. And its definately the wrong car for el capitan

ok, ok, ok... lets not have this thread closed down because its going off topic like the last one... keep it on topic...
if you dont have anything to say about the motorsport elise on el capitan, then keep it to yourself... please
