The Meshuggah ThreadMusic

No band can match the complex but brilliantly calculated mathematical thrash metal of Meshuggah. Not even Slayer can outclass this band. I love Meshuggah even better than Fear Factory :mischievous:  👍 👍 👍

Rational Gaze, Transfixion, Future Breed Machine, Terminal Illusions, Corridor of Chameleons, and Concatenation are the best songs from this band 👍 👍 👍

I would love to hear some feedback from you metal lovers ;)

That's only your opinion, I started listening to Meshuggah only on Amazon samples, I will buy a cd soon, I still Prefer Slayer and Motley Crue to Meshuggah. Anyways that band still kicks ass.

You have already been listening to them for so long, I only have listen to it for about a couple weeks. Only the first 5 songs of each album. The samples only last about 30 seconds.

Yeah, but you have to admit, Meshuggah's complex style of metal makes them one of the best bands in metal history :mischievous:

EDIT:

Ask silviadrifter, he likes complex form of music, not the overly simplistic type of music these days...

I am visiting http://www.meshuggah.net/bio/ right now to know more about them. The thing that I know is that they are from Sweden, do they have any songs in Swedish? (such as with Dimmu Borgir's Death Cult Armageddon, the majority of the songs are in English, but it has 2 songs in Norwegian, does Meshuggah have anything similar in Swedish.)

Sorry, that's not what I ment, I mean if they have at least one song in Swedish in one of their albums.

I was looking at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/artist/glance/-/41738/ref=m_art_dp/102-9152367-6364108 and most of the people who have ranked Meshuggah's albums, seem to like more "Chaosphere" than any other (when I buy an album by some artist I don't really know about, I basically first buy the album with the best rank) according to you Klonie Gun, is that really their best album?

No, Chaosphere is not their best album. It is Destroy Erase Improve, which has been released in 1995, and no, they do not have one Swedish song in their albums.

I was just listening to it (and headbanging to it, it sounds COOL!)

I don't know either to get Chaosphere or Destroy Erase Improve, they both sound cool.

Edit: Maybe I should just get the two albums.

You should also get the Nothing album. This is another album I would definitely recommend for any metal fan. Once you get that album, you should hear Stengah and Rational Gaze. These songs are pretty kick-ass.

BTW, I just came back from a stupid server error that occurred in this site :irked:

The EP "1" is good. I seem to have lost my other Meshuggah album, a full one I had. I'll grab it again soon. They have an album in the works, no?

Also, I can't agree with you saying that they are more talented than Slayer. I mean, Meshuggah are an excellent band, and I think they would classify as one of the top Metal bands around, but I'm sorry, I don't believe they are as talented as Slayer were in their hay day. They maybe now, but not back then.

Im no big fan of Meshuggah, but they do have some awesome tracks made! Destroy Erase Improve does have the best sound and songs!

I have never heard a band like this before, i think they are one of a kind! Im no big fan of Slayer either, but from just listen and compare the complexity from both bands songs, Meshuggah wins easy!

Slayer are legends of Metal! Obviously you've been listening to the newer stuff.

But in all seriousness, Meshuggah are a great band. Lots of talent, and very well done musi, but I think a little bit too much is being thrown their way here. I wouldn't go over the top and say they are one of the best ever. In my eyes, they are great, but not special enough to be called legends or one of the best of whatever. I think that is a little too far personally.

But Jimmy, I know Slayer may be the legends of Metal but even though they play fast and heavy, it seems to me that their sound is just a little simplistic these days. Meshuggah has the complex form of metal in their arsenal; mathematical songwriting, odd riff cycles, and the robotic death vocals that the singer uses with meticulousity. You cannot say that in a complexity contest that Meshuggah would have to sit on their knees before Slayer! :P

Slayer are boring today. I admit that. They are almost in the list in my opinion of the bands that need to end. And I know that Meshuggah are all of the above, but I think you guys are giving too much credit to them. They are good. Maybe even very good. But not "great"...yet. Give them time.
