...according to EA, the Porsche 911 GT2. And from what they showed...it looks exactly like the 2010 Porsche 911 GT2...call me crazy, but Porsches just don't excite me anymore. Sure the original 911 is still cool and the 944 is pretty cool, but...for the past decade, they've struggled to come out with a new body style. Heck, Lotus canceled the Esprit for that...and Honda the NSX. Seriously, when EA said the ALL NEW Porsche 911 GT2...I was hoping for a dramatic new body-style...but...it doesn't appear like that's going to happen. It might be highly anticipated by EA, but I'll save my breath for the new Viper.

No, it'll be the 2011 GT2. The car everyone has already seen. What do EA know about cars anyway, they can barely make games and that's their profession.

It's only the most anticipated to them because they still have the rights to use Porsche in videogames.

Still is a great car though and I would have one in a heartbeat.

Is there another point to this thread besides what cars came out last model year?

WTF?

The 997 GT2 is discontinued and there won't be a new one for some time... The new 911 (991) doesn't come out until early 2012 AFAIK, and Porsche don't usually release GT versions for some time after the base models hit the market.

944>911... Well, other than 911 SC-RS that is. :D

Yea I've lost all interest in Porsches after I found more interesting and cooler vehicles. Porsche has just become lazy and unoriginal with their design like when the GT3 came out, it was the same thing as a GT2 with a few upgrades. Apparently it was a grade A supercar even though it's the ugliest car in my opinion I think a Gumpert Apollo looks better. And it does!

997, 993, and 930 are my favorite 911 models. Do really like the GT3 RS, a weird mismatch of colors that somehow works.

Also, whats the hate on the looks of the Gumpert Apollo? I think the only thing weird about it is the emblem. Other than that it looks very ricery, and I like that.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I don't think that's the situation at hand.

I honestly think Porsche have no idea on how to redesign it, nor do I think they have the courage to do it.

In any case, an 911 is much easier on the eyes than the Panamera....Sorry I just vomited a little...

Wow, this thread has FAIL written all over it.
Please, allow me to correct the OP.

One. When EA mentioned the "Most Anticipated Car of 2011", they were referring to The Run, not the car market. It's something called marketing hype.

Two. EA is not talking about the 997 GT2. The car they are referring to is the 2012 (991) 911 Carrera S. And they are referring to it as a question.
EA
2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S (991) - Finally, who wouldn't want to drive the most highly anticipated car of 2011? With its raw power and pin point handling, the Carrera S is exclusive to Need for Speed The Run.

So...in other words, Porsche paid EA gobs of money to say that the 2012 Carrera is the "Most Anticipated Car of 2011." Or...Porsche paid EA lots of money to LIE. I got that already. And even IF they were referring to the most anticipated car in The Run (which I don't think is possible since the official car list hasn't even been hinted at) it's still a lie. They pulled this BS with Hot Pursuit and the Porsche 918 Spyder (which looks like crap...but at least it's different than the 911 styling). I guess it just proves, once again that EA is money hungry.

Also, Does it REALLY matter if it was the 997 or the 991? Is there REALLY a difference?

Um, no, you didn't get anything.

EA said that to help advertise the game. It's called marketing. Porsche more than likely had little to no involvement in EA's words describing the new 911. I'm guessing you're going to tell me next that Chevrolet paid EA to label the Camaro as the car that is bullied by no one.

It's all marketing.

It's called advertising. That's the whole point; to hype up the game & make people want to buy the car by using creative words & statements.

The only thing this thread proves is your continuous ability to make silly assumptions/claims. What's more so is that this has nothing to do with Automotive News.

Also, Does it REALLY matter if it was the 997 or the 991? Is there REALLY a difference?
I'm just going to facepalm because no amount of information could redeem this statement....

Mind if I close this now?
