OK, I'm up to 7% now, and I have two questions I'm looking for answers to if someone would oblige:
  1. What's the red (+4 or +2 etc) figure that comes up next to the gear indicator? It usually happens when I've been hard on the throttle for a while, then it flickers under braking?
  2. Hondakid86's FAQ says that the game will work in widescreen and multi-speaker modes. I've got my PS2 connected to a widescreen TV, and it's not in WS (I have configured it in the options), and I have an optical cable going to my Dolby Digital amp, which senses the mode of the incoming signal, but that only ever detects 2-channel 48KHz PCM signals. I can't see an option to enable any Dolby Digital/Surround sound. Is (dare I say it? :) ) the FAQ not correct for my UK game?
    [/list=1]

    Thanks y'all!

  1. The number is the suggested gear for the upcoming corner, and it flickers to indicate you should brake.

I have a slow in-fast out driving style, so I've found it better to brake slightly before it flashes.

  1. 1. That is the indicator that tells you what gear you should be using for the next corner. If your using Manual transmission it can be useful but if you use Auto just ignore it.

    2. ??? DK ???

I'll just welcome you to GTPlanet...

At the risk of going off topic - I find this flashing light sometimes comes on waaaaaaay too early - like mid-straight and stuff!! I just ignore it.

The only game I am aware of that used Dolby digital is The Bouncer, and only in the cutscenes (movies, not polygonal) FFX is supposed to do the same. I don't think that the PS2 can do Dolby Digital in realtime, just movies. X-box apparently will, and the Gamecube definitely will. Rogue Squadron will be the first game to do it. (Actually they will be using Dolby Pro Logic II:eek: )

1. Even if you are using automatic pay attention to the flashing indicator, It lets you know when and how hard to brake.

2. My friends PS2 audio is running through the optical cable. I'm not sure if it is full super dolby surround, but it does come through all six speakers as if in 5.1 mode.
