Move over BMW M5, move over Audi RS6, move over Jaguar XFR, move over Mercedes-Benz E-Class AMG move over Chrysler 300C SRT8 and move over FPV GT-R Spec. Give way to the new HSV GTS. If the Europeans thought they had the Sport Saloon market all to themselves with America and Australia chipping in with their budget rockets, think again, because the new HSV GTS charging up the high street with more tyre shreading power in its wake.

The new HSV GTS is based on the current VF Holden Commdore with a supercharged Corvette 6.2L V8 sporting a massive 584bhp and a mind boggiling 545 ib-foot of torque. Or in plain english, the most powerful sports saloon on sale today! Speaking of which, the FPV GT-R Spec, you need to raise your game. (HSV and FPV I should point out are Australian and possibly not for sale anywhere else, however the HSV GTS will probably make it to England as a Vauxhall and possibly the rest of Europe as an Opel but I'm not sure on that though)

Another thing to, the new HSV GTS is currently the fastest and the most powerful car to have been produced from "Down Under". And its all yours for just under $100,00AU; way, way less than the established BMW's, Jag's and Merc's.

Might be premature...

Again, probably premature.

What do you think of the new HSV GTS?

I think it's gonna have to be a whole lot better well-rounded than the last few offerings we've had. Even then I'm not sold on the styling yet.

But don't you think it has appeal? I mean, demand has blasted past supply on these things.

Yeah, they have appeal. I do like them, don't get me wrong. My dad has a 6.2L R8, and it is an extremely awesome/fun car.

Just if it were my money I'd go for something European, because they have a more premium feel. 👍

You see when I said those things, I was trying to get across how the new GTS was coming fighting by having more power and with similar sophisticaion as the Europeans.

HSV do indeed punch above their weight. But in saying that, it's like a cruiserweight compared to a heavyweight.
The GTS does have a reworked MRC and seems to have inherited a lot of things from the GM technology parts bin. It'll be interesting to see how it stacks up.

Dear God that thing is ugly. Similar sophistication as the europeans? Sure.
I personally don't agree with you. I love this car and I do love the looks of. (Beauty is the eye of the beholder)

Anyway, if were going to start "oh thats ugly" thing, tell did you like the looks of the previous BMW M5? Or the AMG E-Class?

Don't think so...

Are you fan by any chance of the HSV's? And apart from me, do you like the looks of it?

It's an ugly car, let's be honest.
However, there's not much I can say about it other than it being a cut-price super-sedan.

Sure, it's got the super-sedan power and some of the tech, but its also got the cut-price looks and feel.
World-beater it ain't, probably will be a decent car though.

Which is the better looking car. The new one or the previous one?

Yes, I've always liked the look of the previous-gen M5 (I'm in a minority, I know), and the E AMG doesn't have a bad thing at all. This new HSV looks just so vulgar, the enormous air intakes, the little LED lines, the rear fascia that is undescribably ugly... everything on it is just that, vulgar. It's overdone, gaudy, gross.

No doubt under all that crap the car is very capable and fast, everyone here knows I'm all for american V8s on everything, the car ticks the right boxes but God it's freaking ugly.

First-series VE was relatively good. The VE II really took an already overly-trinketed car and made it ridiculously vulgar. I understand the point, but at least in the first VE, it looked good. Now with the LEDs and black inserts everywhere on the VF, it looks...cheap.

Pricing revealed.

"Incredibly, the pricing will make the GTS roughly $140,000 cheaper than the next cheapest car to boast as much power when it arrives in showrooms in September – three months after the rest of the HSV Gen-F range."

... Which is why I like HSV's. They're amazingly quick and fun for such an incredibly low price. However, in Australia more refined European cars are priced insanely high, thanks to our retarded luxury car tax system (and other contributions). Because of this, Australians have a choice of buying a HSV at a reasonable price, or paying through the nose for a Luxury car.

Overseas, the pricing differences are not quite as bad, so I don't see the point in buying one of these if you could pay a bit extra for a BMW or Merc.

Other than loyalty who in their right mind would but a falcon over the commodore at the moment no wonder why they are closing

I own a bf xr6. Love it a lot more then the commodore. I have driven both cars and ford wins every time.
