It's called the Nice Mycar..
It's coming out in the autumn, priced at 8.995
Yes it's electric.
Designed by Guigario, but built in Hong Kong
Only costs 2p a mile apparently.
It has a range of 40 miles, with a 40 mph top speed.
MyCar is available in seven colours with some interesting options such as a glass roof or removable fiberglass version, leather interior, cooled seats and boot rack.

Thoughts?

I've just found this thread, will be back with some new cars from time to time.

You forgot "will fold like a piece of paper in a collision with anything larger than an MCC Smart."

And that's pretty much everything.

Is that a Tata badge I see on it? Maybe it'll cost about $5000.

And cars that small should not have rims that big.

Oh and 40MPH?Please thats WAY to slow for American driving.

depends on where you live. the speed limit throughout the city of tacoma is 30 - 35. i cant speak for the speed limits of seattle, but whenever i am in downtown i hardly ever break 30. then again, i am usually looking for some place ive never been. even in olympia, a town of less than 50,000 people, you rarely have an opportunity to go over 35. this is not a car anyone in the suburbs should get, but for any urban area, its perfectly fine.

i cant speak for the speed limits of seattle...

In the city, almost every road is 30, and only on main arterials when nobody is around can you get to 40. In the suburbs, most roads run about 40 with a couple at 45. Even on the freeway in the city, traffic doesn't spend that much time above 40 anyway. For city driving, you will surely be fine. And if you can't keep up with traffic, 40 is enough to just make you seem like a cautious driver if you stay off the freeway.

However, with those hills, you may be topping out at 30 or something...

So this is the Chinese equivalent of a modified golf cart then? Meh... They'll likely sell in droves down in Beijing or something.

Nope. I've seen "golf-cart" EVs, and they can't even hit 40 mph... more like... 36 mph... :D

Man, look at how sturdy that roof is! You could fit a whole 8 year old on it, and it'll only slightly deform!

Yawn, next. Lets see one that doesn't look dumb, and won't kill me in the event of a bird crapping on it.

Are you guys missing the fact that it can only travel 40 miles?

Not really a big issue. 40 miles in the city can take quite a while. If it's only used for local trips then chances are you'd be out and back home before you reach that 40 mile limit.

agreed. I mean, I could easily justify something like this in Tacoma and we're relatively small at a population of 200,000 and our downtown isn't more than 15 or so city blocks. Even out of downtown there is no need or hardly an opportunity to go over 40. In fact, I could probably map out a 40 mile route (without backtracking) where the speed limit will never top 40. (That would mean leaving Tacoma, and even going into some suburbs.) I can't imagine anyone in an urban area who thinks its not a good idea. Of all the cities in the world with downtown populations the size of my whole city, a 40 mile an hour max speed may never even be reached, and given that any large city is going to have anything you could need to live within 1 mile, the 40 mile range isnt a problem either.

I'd not have a problem with it in an urban area, other than it's made in China, and likely unsafe...

It's actually what some people would like to have EVERYONE drive. THAT I don't agree with.

That is a perfect candidate for a Hayabusa engine swap.

Me neither on principal, but if there were inner city zones restricted to cars like that you'd have less problem with tin can/SUV interfaces.

That I wouldn't mind so much. I'm not much for cities. I consider myself a bit of a "Hick," if you will, living in a predominantly blue-collar area.

Might make things nicer for pedestrians, too.

It kind of looks rugged... and the rear bears a resemblance to the Opel Astra, to me.

40 mph? Like most small cars and highway drving, it's all or none: either everybody drives one, or none... but yes, perhaps a hit in Beijing.

Having had a closer look at this car at the British Motor show, I have to say I'm more impressed than I was at first glance. Compared to the G-Wiz, which is effectively it's main rival, it looks much, much better and looks like a higher quality product. The interior is pretty cool - big bucket seats and a flash steering wheel, and painted the same colour as the exterior.

I do think that despite it being solely a city car a 40 mile range and a 40mph top speed is a little low - add another 30 miles to the former and another 10mph to the latter and that'd be more like it - although as a "quadricycle" I'm not sure it'd either feel or actually be that safe making it quicker.

-------------------------------------------------

What was much more promising at the Show however was a car nearby on the Nice Car Company stand. It was called the Super Light Sport Car Concept. It's basically a very small, very light two seat electric "sports car". Weighs only 400kg, which for the record is 320 less than the Elise S1, and although I didn't find performance figures it was claimed to have a 100 mile range, which is much more like it.

I had a sit inside (when I got a chance, as the thing was surrounded by kids all day, the size of the thing making it look more like a toy than a car). It's certainly not suitable for the larger person (I'm about 5'9" tall, around 172cm I think) as the driving position was a little... odd... for me, right 'throttle' leg being almost completely stretched to press the pedal all the way down and the steering wheel quite close by virtue of the cockpit being tiny. The seats aren't moveable, being just padding on the cockpit base.

Apparently the production car would have fully electric controls, though the steering had a mechanical connection to the wheels so I assume electric steering means electrically assisted.

I'd love a drive in one, it did look like it'd be great fun and a 100 mile range would get you a hell of a long way in town. Performance wise I think that even just 60-70mph would be enough, around the same as a small 125cc motorcycle or scooter. With an electric motor delivering instant torque and such light weight acceleration wouldn't be too bad either.

Well, it looks better in person. Although, why bother with the "lambo doors" on something like that?

I'm not sure to be honest, it actually made getting out seem more difficult because I had to avoid hitting my head on it. I'd rather have wide-opening standard doors, it's a narrow car so you wouldn't be struggling to get out in car parks. The Lambo doors do comprise part of the roof though, so maybe it's more convenient for taller drivers (think about getting into an Elise with the roof attached compared to with it off... the extra space is nice isn't it!)
