Probably with Skew, Bevel and Emboss, 3D Transform and a few other little things such as Gradient.

Nope. No Photoshop involved whatsoever. Well, to put it on my chop only...

I used 3D Studio Max 4.2. Simple text effect, set the thickness to around 4, rotated the Y and Z axises to make it that angle, rendered it and saved. Loaded it up in Photoshop, selected the E03, feather to about 3 pixels because my selection skills aren't all that good when it comes to round objects, copy, paste. Done!

7 hours heaps of time! - I did mine in millions of little pieces which should add up to 3 hours.....heaps when you think about it and time flies when you are having fun!
