If you're sick of all the fan boy, name calling, artificial specs touting, screenshot flashing, feature bashing, and company slamming, this is the thread for you.

I don't care about who's got the fastest CPU.

I don't care about who pulls the most frames per second.

I don't care who's got jaggies and who doesn't.

I don't care who did what first.

I don't care about freaking battery life.

So long as the box has HD, wireless controllers, networking, and a hard drive the CPU specs don't really mean a damn thing. If the platform has five good games (not including sequels!) I'm going to buy that console and the five good games.

What... so your saying you dont like Sega Megadrive 2? :guilty:

Alex the Kid? 👍 ........... Asterix? 👍 .............Golden Axe? 👍 .............. cumon, nothing could possibly surpass that kind of gameplay. Sure, it doesnt have HD and online gaming but who needs that when you have a controller with a directional pad and two (TWO!) bottons (A & B).

A bit of a console basher yourself, I think. :yuck:

Is it OK to bash Gamecube?

Everyone else gets to do it.:irked:

It performs as advertised. That tool does its job quite well. What exactly do you plan to do in bashing form?

Honestly, the PS2 is my first choice, but it is the only one that fell short of its claims. Online is shat, and the hard drive is practically devoid of game support (there are Japanese titles that use it).

I got no bashing to do, but instead I simply want to post some ideas to see who agrees with me.
1. For the most part, the PC is the best gaming machine, due to it's wide range of abilities. However, PC's are very expensive if you are going to make them into gaming machines.
2. Consoles provide an inexpensive alternative to rather expensive PC gaming.
3. Each console is unique and has its own pros and cons.

Everybody uses something different because they have different needs, different budgets, and different interests. Hopefully this post sums up everything without getting into the sticky details.

"console bashing" can be quite entertaining at times(seriously). However, I think all of the big three system's gonna be awesome! :) 👍

Pretty much. The other nice thing about consoles versus 'PCs' is the consistancy for all players. With computers you could have one guy playing with a 16MB video card and another with a 256MB video card. One of them has an apparent advantage (:

Personally my favorite console is the ps2, xbox is also good but the controller feels difficultto use for me.

I dont engage in gamecubebashing, I engage in gamecubeownerswhohonestlythinkthegcisbetterthantheps2bashing.

Oh BTW its not so bad if your the gamer with the 256mb graphics card.

I don´t bash about consoles, but its specs are important. On this gen I thought the PS2 was the console that suited me the best, mostly because of the games it has and because it´s not so inferior to the competition. But if its graphics and processor power were much lower than the other two I would probably get rid of it.

For next gen, I intend to buy a PS3. But if MS or Nintendo proves to have a better console for my liking I would change it, no problems.

I just find it funny that so many people bash the Xbox for whatever reason. I only got an Xbox a year ago and I must say I enjoy it much more the then PS2. The Gamecube never had much to offer to me, but not to say it wasn't a good console.

i enjoy both xbox and ps2, and if my PC was powerful enough id enjoy games on that too, i will most likely be getting both xbox 360 and ps3..

Amen! I 100% agree with you.

This gets tricky sometimes.

Oddly enough, if a fan of Console A shows up and bashes Console B, and you counter their arguments, it automatically makes you a "fanboy" of Console B. I'm still trying to figure that one out. I'm in the middle of several rather large wars-of-words over on the IGN forums that seem to follow this same pattern. I'm referred to as a "Sony fanboy" when, if you actually analyze the things I've said, I'm actually "anti-MS-fanboy". The line gets blurred somewhere. All of my arguments are actually counter-arguments, but none of them seem to see this.

Jedi...No matter how intelligent the argument is, it'll only be understood on a level of intelligence equal to the reader. In other words, there's no point in preaching science to people who think science is the work of the gods....Know what I mean?

Every console has it's perks.. If they didn't there would't be "3" majo consoles on the market right now... People have different tastes. Some people like smash brothers, some people like final fantasy...some people like Halo....
I can't stand game cube, but playing Wario Ware/donkey konga hammered are some of the best times i've ever had gaming.

I've had horrible experiences with almost every type of electronic device SONY makes...

But I still like Final Fantasy 8.....

People need to realize that society doesn't think on a one track.....Excuse me a YOUR track mind.....

I think, I might fit into exactly what you're saying there. I'm an Christian, and believe God is the greatest scientist of all. I understand exactly what you're saying though. Excellent point. 👍

Actually, here's another example of über-fanboyism:

I got into an argument concerning some of the latest Xbox games (namely Splinter Cell and Conker, for those that were wondering). I was told that these two games looked like next-gen games.

After getting over the shock of the utter stupidity of that statement, I replied that no, they weren't.. they were current-gen games. Largely because they're running on current-gen hardware, and showed none of the advancements present in nearly all of the true "next-gen" games (Killzone, Motorstorm, UE3 Engine, etc).

I was then told, and I quote, "Wow, you're an idiot."

Some people are beyond help, aren't they?

You know what bewilders me...People that think hardware make the console.......
Last time I checked just because it was the most advanced..and only....32bit console out there..didn't make it better than the 16bit one's of the time

i'm speaking of course of the crappy ass Sega 32x

Just give me the system that does the most stuff and has the games I want. They're both going to be equal in terms of graphical capabilities.

Splinter Cell is one of the best looking games on the market right now, and that not all me talking. Many game magazines feel the same way.

Anyways I feel that there are way to many PS2 fanboys around here. They think its the best system on the market today. I can't tell you how many times people on these boards thought I was an idiot for saying that Xbox is better. And since I really like on line gaming...the Xbox is better. The PS2 online sucks badly.

But it's really depends on what you are going for, and if it wasn't for Gran Turismo I wouldn't own a PS2 at all. Although after play GT4 then playing Forza, I'm disappointed with GT.

You pretty much buy consoles based on a few games, since most games are multi platform.

I dissagree blazing.....If you want to go by pure looks....
i'd say Doom still holds that title...
As for Game magazines...I could give a rats ass about game magazines..they said GT4 was a good investment......

I buy console'sfor practicality....
i bought my X box because my PS2 broke and my DVD player got stolen.....2 birds with one stone...And it's a sexy military green color that matches my pc

Yes Doom 3 is still a great looking game, but I was just saying SC is one of the best looking games. There are a lot of them.

No, no.. don't get me wrong. I wasn't saying the game didn't look good.. But I was told that the game "could be confused for a next-gen game". Which means either A) That person has their sights set really low for what next-gen games will actually look like, or B) They suffer from terminal stupidity.

I do agree that there are far too many fanboys out there. And by "fanboy", I mean a person who swears utter loyalty to a console, to the exclusion of all others. Who owns only one console, and all other consoles "suck". By that definition, anyone who owns more than one console is automatically NOT a "fanboy". Which is why I consider myself an "anti-fanboy" during my arguments with people.
