Look, I'm starting this over because the first version looked like a bot-written essay and that’s on me. I used a tool to help format my thoughts and it came out looking like a corporate press release with those weird quotes. My bad.
The reason I’m even posting this is because sim-racing feels like it's in a death spiral. Between Microsoft gutting 50% of the Turn 10 staff last July and the Schreier reports about Sony pulling back from PC, I'm worried about GT's future.
My "Parity Mode" idea is simple: A standalone PlayStation PC App that allows 240 FPS for casual lobbies, but locks the App to 60 FPS / 4K strictly for GT World Series (GTWS) qualifiers. >
We need this because a PC player with zero input lag will always have an unfair edge over a PS5 Pro player. To keep the competition fair, the hardware needs a "firewall" during sanctioned races.
Also, regarding the "biometrics" comments—Sony literally just launched "The Playerbase" scan initiative on April 7th. Using that for a "Digital License" would stop the anonymous trolls and "ringers" from ruining the high-split rooms.
Look at the Tokyo Expressway Daily Races this week. The wall-riding and penalty cheese in Race C are already bad enough on console. If we go to PC without a "Walled Garden" and verified IDs, the competitive integrity is gone.
Would you guys be willing to accept a 60 FPS lock just for the GTWS if it meant finally getting a proper PC version?
