It Doesnt Matter, Its not really a Race reporting on a death,
Either way it will be good for people to pay there respects here .

Tm 👍

Yes, this is very sad news. Rest in peace, John Paul. Here is a video of him that always gives me a chuckle. :)

Haha, thats a cool video. I also liked the video where he was watching the break dancers.

Even that I'm atheist, I've always respected the Pope. He was a very nice man, one of the bests persons as Ghandi, etc... I have never seen him as a God's choosen (as I don't believe it), I've seen him as a pacificator. Without him the world wouldn't be as we know it.

BTW, I'm scared about the new Pope that the Vatican has to choose. He may be much more conservative, if you know what I mean. And that would be bad. May we have a new Pope as good as Karol.

The Pope was a very athletic person back in the day. He was an avid skiier, among other things.

Even though I'm not Catholic, or even religious for that matter, I still feel a great sense of loss today. We have lost one of the great humanitarians of our generation; there may never be another Pope who was loved by the entire world as much as John Paul II was. Although you'd have to be incredibly naiive to have not seen this coming, it's still a very dark day in the world. He will be greatly missed.

And on a side note, it's been dark and raining/snowing all day here in Toronto. The weather is perfect for this sort of day, in an ironic way.

Coolest Pope ever. R.I.P. I'm not Catholic either. But the things this man did were amazing. There was a sense that he was really a spiritual leader.

Yeah our weather is about the same as that in toronto (well i am only across the lake from it). Kind of gloomy.

He was a good guy, but I'm glad he is on to whatever lies beyond. He was definetly the bright spot in the catholic church. I hope they find a worthy replacement.

according to reports, he was a fine goalkeeper.

Also He Met with Fidel Castro, & got him to reinstate Christmas, what a man,

Also As Marks Of Respect, sporting events are being postponed.

From Comments, you can see, people of all religions and of no relegions respected him, thats how great he was, R.I.P the world shall miss you.

Wow I'm just curious how they go about electing a new Pope. It will be a rather exciting thing to see.

I'm not Catholic, but I did go to Catholic schools for 8 years. I guess I should have paid attention on how the Pope is elected.

When the Pope dies, a series of bells ring throught Vatican city, signifying his death. The mourning period will go on for 9 days, and they bury him within 4-6 days. Then, some of the higher people of the catholic churches (Archbishops, Cardinals, etc.) Will meet in a room of the Vatican church. The thing is that the election is very, very secret. Telephone lines are cut, the room is swept for secret audio/video devices, etc. The officials will debate for 2 weeks or so on electing a new Pope. The decison will be told to the citizens of Vatican city by a plume of white smoke comming out from the church, a newly elected Pope (Probably Italian) will emerge.

Man, I know all this, and I'm an agnostic.

Why thank you much, you learn something new everyday.

I have great respect for this man considering I don't believe religons.

I hated how the other times in the hospital, they said he wouldn't recover, but the Pope proved their asses wrong and recovered.

Didn't he even get a ride in a Ferrari F1 or have something to do with one?
Man, this Pope kicked ass. 👍

I´m catholic, and although I don´t go to church very often, this is a great loss. He was a great man and I hope they choose his replacer wisely.

R.I.P. João Paulo II.

Great man, loved his smile, and his famous laugh. I thought he is one of the greatest people because he got the world to get their heads out of their asses and get along. He respected all, even all the other religions. He forgave the guy who shot him, back in 1981.

*R.I.P J.P. II* (hope you read this in heaven)

According to Mary, this was supposed to be our last Pope.

This could mean that the world will end, or that the was the last real Pope, meaning that the next pope could be liberal or something.

I doubt the world-ending thing. Otherwise it would be happening right now. :)

May JP rest in peace.

Man, I know all this, and I'm an agnostic.
Firstly, as far as I know, it's only a select group of 117-118 Cardinals under the age of 80 that will be allowed to vote (I say 117-118 Cardinals since apparently the Pope kept the name of one Cardinal a secret). Also, if they can't elect a new Pope (I believe it's a 60% majority that is needed), a plume of black smoke will come out of the chimney. And although history suggests the next Pope will be Italian, there is talk that they may elect an African as the next Pope.

And ironically, I also consider myself to be agnostic, and I know all this too! :D

Well, I'm Catholic... (don't practice it much though) and his death simply got to many of us... in my opinion, he was one of the best (if not the best) Pope in history.
May God grant him eternal peace...

The weather here seems to be exactly like that... the past weeks it has been extremely hot, and yesterday night it started to rain (around 8 p.m.) and it's 11 a.m. now, and it's still raining (with lightning and all...).

I don't mean to sound ignorant or anything, but religion has never been a forté of mine. What did he do that made him better than all the other popes we were never around to see?
