Has anyone out there won the Jaguar XJ220 Race Car? Personnally I love Jags but this one (even with 950 hp) just sucks unbelievably. I tried winning the GT All-Stars in Professional Mode and it was the first time I've lost more than once in a row. If you can beat All-Stars with the XJ220 you are a true master, because this car is CRAP. Do not, in any way, attempt to race this travesty of a machine.

You know why these cars are such "travesties"? One word: Ford. Since Jaguar was bought by Ford, they have turned them into just that. Fords. Everything about them (including the enigines) is a Ford variant. You can say what you want, but you CANNOT make a real Jag out of a Ford.

whats wrong wit Ford? i'm guessing u do not like Ford?

Not trying to sound like a jerk here, but no, I don't like them. (yes, I can speak from experience). A horse on the grille and a cobra behind the front tire doesn't make a car fast. A ton of people where I live have 'Stangs, and think they can beat anything that comes their way. I have yet to see one that can hang with a Camaro or a T/A. Ford also needs something more exotic like Dodge's Viper or Chevrolet's Corvette. These are truly beautiful American machines that define the image of U.S. muscle: horsepower, radical styling, and tire smoke. Mustangs and Thunderbirds choke when it comes to that.

Bullit, Saleen, Steeda? they're all after market. You can't call a RUF a Porsche. As for the SVT, it's supposed to be built as competition for the Vettes and Vipers, (not midrange Camaros and T/As), but Car and Driver's comparison test between the three has it in third by a long shot.

But what the hell do I know anyway?
Saleen, you're alright with me dude. I like someone that will argue back. It's all good.:D .....lol

keep the conversation coming

Yeah, i see a ton of Mustangs around here and everyone thinks they are top **** that has one. I haven't yet to see one try to race a Camaro, but i know what the results would be...I would like to see the look of humiliation on the look of the mustang driver's face. I am definately a fan of Camaros and Trans Ams though. It's a shame they aren't gonna make trans ams/firebirds anymore.

hmmmm... ok
i saw a yellow Steeda Mustang driving the other day!:thatsodd:
he pulled up beside this yellow Viper(it was just after a car show)
but the Viper wouldn't race. IMO, i think the Viper would've won, but what the hell do I know?

im sure the Viper would have smoked the stang, but heres my idea... Most Stang drivers around here (WV) arent that intelligent, so i figure, that viper driver wouldnt race him cause he actually thought ahead, plus the fact the viper is hella expensive! and nobody wants to see a ****ed up Viper on the side of the road...
the mustang drivers was probably...ya know... :drink: haha but what do I know? i just think the viper would have one, but then again, if the mustang had not 1 but 2! racing stripes, he would have won, cause as we all know, those add 200HP to the rear wheels :D

LMAO Dude, that is some funny stuff. I sure as hell don't want to see a ****ed up Viper. Too beautiful of a machine

My thoughts. Keep in mind that I drive a ford, by dad has a firebird, my brother has a cobra, my uncle has a saleen, and everybody else in my family drives sportscars.

I like mustangs. They are sweet cars.
F-bodys are sweet cars too, but they dont look as cool.

From a performance standpoint, a Mustang and a Camaro/Firebird are very simmilar at EQUAL TRIM LEVELS (Stock-stock-stock, gt-z28-t/a, Cobra-SS-Firehawk)

The real beauty of these cars is that there is a world of aftermarket performance like no other cars in the world. THe riceboys think their Civics are cool beans, until they see the VAST and INEXPENSIVE performance options they can get on a pony car.

A Cobra-R can run with Corvettes and Vipers, but it at that point, its a race car, and not something you would drive to work like a vette.

Aftermarket Mustangs are just plain cool. I would take a Saleen S351 over a Vette or a Viper any day of the week. They are FAST.

So if you are looking at performance, and you say, "A viper is better than a Mustang!" you will be met with a wall of "No shiot sherlock!" But what do you expect from a car that costs THREE TIMES AS MUCH?

The original question about the Jaguar Race car though

Its a cool car as long as you arent racing it with other cars that are in its class. I cant beat the Professional GT Allstars with it, but then again, you're racing against a GT-ONE and a 787B, what do you expect. I can trash honda civics in it all day long.

80 grand is not all that expensive, just think of the saleen s7, (a custom built mustang, but a little different) it cost a quater mill, thats an expensive car that car the same proformance as a viper and c5 z06

I guess one of the main things I was getting at was the fact that Ford doesn't have any base model, stock vehicle that can meet the performance of a Corvette or Viper. They all are built aftermarket (hence Bullit, Steeda, Saleen). I just think it would be in Ford's best interest to have a base model come out of the factory that would comapare to these. A stock Vette (non ZO6) loaded with options is only 45 grand, guys. Not bad at all when you take a look at the performance and compare it to some other exotic cars out there. One other thing: Who says it has to be a Mustang? That's all I hear when people are talking about Ford cars. Remember that Dodge just introduced the Viper in '91, and it has already become synonymous with American muscsle. Everyone seems to forget that it doesn't have to be a Mustang.

Well, in the GT3 world, the R can't come close the the Z06 or Viper. I'm writing a Shootout article with these three cars, and in every category (except price, but we all know it's screwed up) the R is dead last, and usually by a good margin.

dodge viper good so how did it get beat by a 2 litre vauxhall in a straight mile test. hmmm dunno about you guys but tvr cerbera is the fastest production car in the world. thats excluding supercars such as ferrari and the mclaren f1

how can you say the TVR is the fastest production car in the world, and then add exceptions?
Oh wait this is how: My '86 Honda civic (My first car, may it rest in peace - and pieces) is the fastest production model ever to come out of japan, except for All Nissans, All other Hondas, All toyotas, all Mitsubishis, half the Suzukis, and none of the Suburus:p

WTF are you talking about?? A Saleen S7 would kill a Viper and a C5 Z06!! You must not know what a Saleen S7 is.......

The new edgier style Mustangs look decent, but the previous look, from like '95-2000 looks just like any ordinary car. They don't look like a musclecar, they don't look like they can move. Then again, they really can't move :P And guys talking about Saleens being able to beat a Viper and Vette... From looking in Motor Trend, it doesn't look like any Saleen can keep up with the Z06 or Viper. But they don't have the specs of a S7 :P

The Bullit Mustang has more of a musclier(?) look then the normal ones. I know a normal mustang wouldn't beat a Viper or a Vette, but people saying the Saleen S7 wouldn't beat a Viper or a Vette is a crock. A lot of Ford haters around here.:D;)

First off,
The Saleen S7 is nowhere NEAR a mustang. Its a supercar that is more comparable to a Mclaren F1 than a Mustang. (Perhaps you are thinking of the Saleen SR)

The S7R is the Lemans car that is running this year. It is a SUPERCAR that is not even in the same league as these other cars. S7R teams are winning ALMS AND ELMS series right now.

www.saleen.com/Auto/S7/S7.htm

A Saleen S7 is a 375,000 dollar car
A C5 Z06 goes for 48,000
A Viper GTS runs 64,000
A Cobra-R costs about 50,000

Cars like this really dont have any options. (leather seats MAYBE)

The big cock on the hood of the trans am is the best part of it. It says, "Hey ladies, look what I'm packin!"

AltF8, I'll race my cobra-R against your Viper GTS or Corvette Z06 any day of the week. I may not win, but it will be close.

Not to change the topic or anything, but I rather dislike the Barge Movement characteristics of this Jag. From the specs and looks of it, it should go really, really, fast and have no problem making a turn.

Is weight a factor? This looks like a huge car. Remember the old LTD's and Buick 4-d's? I know I shouldn't compare the Jag with these cars, but it's a boat. Just my thoughts on the whole thing. :D

Thank you Brian C Norton.:D
