Like the ps2. But the contrast here is, the ps3 will be able to surpass its demos alot faster compared to the uber hard to develop for ps2. I'll show some ex's of how the ps2 surpassed its demos but let me mention how Epic was able to make a playable demo of the unreal3 engine in just a matter of "2 months." Ok, let me show some of the ps2's tech demos from 99, best year ever!

and let me knock MS for a moment
"One of the basic premises of the Xbox is to put the power in the hands
of the artist," Blackley said, which is why Xbox developers "are
achieving a level of visual detail you really get in 'Toy Story.'"

Yea......

Now lets look at the hyped xb visuals

to this day, no xb game looks like that, simple. that could be a concept image for 360's visuals for all we know :indiff:

Ps3 is 1% as powerful as the human brain. 35 times more powerful than the ps2. Ps3 is going to be considered a super computer if you looked at it 10 years ago. PS3 > All.

 I wished GT4 looked like that all the time. As a still that GT2000 looks more realistic than GT4s night time tracks I think although thats probably because its blurred and somewhat stylsed.

I agree that the stills of GT2K looked better as far as reflections go, but I also notice that the textures are a bit lower res and I wouldn't be surprised if the poly count was lower.

Cobra, now lets be honest. Your known for talking rubbish, making silly claims and getting ripped apart as you usually don't have a leg to stand on. Well your doing it again matey, just stop it for your own good, and wait and see. I for one doubt it, but hell, who knows?

Also trying to point the finger of blame at MS just makes you look like a fanboy. Every one knows that's not in game, it's a tech demo.

I'm sure my PS3 will be able to push out more teraflops than your brain! :dopey:

You currently need in the region of 250 PCs to even get onto the top 500 supercomputer list [Top500]. It should take just 8 Cells to get onto the list and 560 to take the lead.

i don't think anyone really realizes what the cell is exactly capable of. this is going to REVOLUTIONIZE our world. i honestly think that its potential is unfathomable...and that it definitely is going to be a major milestone, and, likely, will not be paralleled for quite some time. even if it fails, it's still a major achievement.

i found a nice, fat, website that has all the info on the cell that you could possibly want (at this point anyway).

i don't doubt one bit that the ps3 will be capable of what we've seen in the tech demos.

Just pointing out that MS has lied. Bill Gates even said the xb would be able to do toystory graphics, you dont see sony themselves saying the ps2 will be able to do toy story graphics.

What he said could've been taken very out of context, you see the X-Box and PS2 can generate Toy Story like graphics, just not real time. Partial quotes like that are pointless, while I agree with you that the PS3 so far looks to be capable of delivering better graphics than the XB360 I need to point out that Sony has lied before, hell pretty much every profit making company lies or twists the truth regularly to wow people or confuse them basically to make people think what they want you to think.

Back onto the thread topic it'self, games can't be compared to demos designed to specifically showcase one of the consoles abilities, early game demo's however can be like GT2000 and GT3 and then GT4. It makes sence to say later games will look better, how soon that will happen I don't know, but tbh I'd rather the developers concentrate on making more immersive experiences, making games allow you to do more, improving the AI to more believable levels ect.

The cell is a 9 core processor, with one core acting as the brain. The other 8 cores are high perfomance vector processors. Each of the 8 cores is capable of 32 gigaflops each. I have no doubt it will surpass the tech demos, unless sony is lieing.

^^^ It's not "9 cores". It's 1 core and 8 SPE's. Each SPE works as a processing unit, but it not considered a "core".

Also, I feel this is a bit unfair as a comparison. 1st because you are comparing scanned images from a magazine to crisp screen captures.

Second, that is always the case, in one way or the other. You have to take everything you see and expect iwth a grain of salt. You can't always expect to see constant instant improvement, and you can't always expect everything to be above that standard.

A lot of people complain that the Sony Tech demo's were "over hyped" and that we saw very few games like that, saying Sony lied etc. They didn't, however they had the knowledge and took the time to UTILIZE what the PS2 could do. Any game that did not live up to that standard was soley the the fault of the DEVELOPERS. Not the Hardware.

The basic point is still the same. There are those out there who say that PS2 never came close to meeting it's tech demos.. that's obviously not the case.

Now people are saying the same thing about PS3.. that it'll never meet it's tech demos. They have absolutely nothing to back up that claim, however.
