As the Seasonal race allows a certain amount of cutting, I've decided to run this contest. It's very similar to the seasonal with a few, very important, differences.
The Challenge is to use the Seasonal Event but to see how fast you can go, staying within the limits of the track. Obviously, if the game gives you a red laptime, then that doesn't count either. I would like you to restrict the number of laps you do to about 15. This obviously cannot be enforced so I will have to rely on the honour system.
Seasonal: Mercedes Benz Driving Event
The car: Mercedes SLS AMG '10
The track: Top Gear Test Track
Car settings:
Transmission: Your choice, AT or MT
Tyres: Comfort Softs
TCS: Off
SRF: Off
Active Steering: Off
ASM: Off
ABS: 1
Controller Sensitivity: Your choice
Closing date: When the Seasonal closes which is the 26th September 2011
These are also in operation
Event Specific Rules
Always have at least 2 tyres inside, or in contact with, the track boundaries. The track boundary is the thin white line that goes round the whole track.
You are also not allowed to reverse from the start line in order to get a run up.
The following pictures illustrate the track boundaries.
Turn 1
We can use the game's interpretation for this corner. Red time = Invalid lap
Exit of Turn 1
The track bounday we are using is the thinner of the 2 white lines as indicated by the arrow.
Chicago (past the tyres)
The track boundary here is the red and white line. At least 2 wheels must remain to the left of, or in contact with, it all the way round. Cones must not be touched on the exit either.
Hammerhead 1
Hammerhead 2
Hammerheaed Exit
Follow through
We can use the game's interpretation for this corner. Red time = Invalid lap
Past the tyres
We can use the game's interpretation for this corner. Red time = Invalid lap
2nd Last Corner
The line here is faint, thin, white line. The car in the pic is currently OK, but if 3 tyres go inside of the line, then it's an invalid lap. Also take care on the exit and do not run wide over and outside of the track boundary.
Last Corner (Gambon) Entry
The car in the pic is marginal but is within the line. Any more of the car on the grass would make it an invalid lap.
Last Corner (Gamon) Exit
Keep 2 wheels inside of, or in contact with, the dashed white line on exit.
If you are in doubt, consider it illegal. If you want me to check, feel free to send me your replay and I'll have a look.
When saving replays, you need to make sure you save the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), AND the 'Save Replay' option.
PM me with your time and I'll create a leaderboard. I would like replays from all laps so I'll let you know where to send replays in reply to your time submission PM.
