my old subie was an ff car, wow, 250whp is amazing in a subaru, i only get my jollies off of watching other people trash themselfs trying to drift. here are a couple occasions...

last winter i had my moms 1998 VW Cabrio its ff but if you pull out from a stop sign in like a big city with blocks and crap you can pull the e-brake and throw down a huge slide like big! i was sidebraking down a hill out of a 90 degree right hander for like 30 or so feet then into a small alley, its a crazy set of corners to do it on, but man my buddy kept trying to do the same thing in his dodge neon and almost ripped a wheel off hitting a curb on the way into the same alley i was hitting.

ohhhh, i came into a 35mph corner at about 93mph and it was slightly banked and then went uphill right after, i worked at the end of the road i was on so i knew it alright, but the catch is there is 3 bumps or dips or whatever in the corner and the ass end of the subie comes out with absolutly no warning! i was on the full left lock all the way up the hill, hoping like hell i dont get into the grass on the inside, go into the ditch on the outside, or hit someone speeding over the hill, well the black marks go from the inside of the middle of the corner, then to the outside, then back to the far right of the road about 50 feet up the hill, when i came out of the slide i was still doing 60mph.

anyone that wants to drift a fwd, make your front tires bald and switch them wiht the rear witch should have good tread still.

another subie story, i was on bald rears, good fronts, these el cheapo tires called douglas performance gt in huge white letters on the sidewall, now picture a 1994 subaru legacy L wagon with black 14 inch steel wheels, and huge white letter tires filling the wheel wells. looked pretty bad ass. story goes on, i was driving around the backroads, i hate main roads, ie: county roads, freeway, anything hevily traveled. i came upon a dream come true, a 1966 shelby cobra, just tooling along! so i get behind him and pace with him for a mile or so and we come to a T intersection so the guy in the front seat of my car honks the horn and yells do a burnout to the cobra guy, he did just that, 3 gears of black for 35 feet down the road, it was on... i floored it outta the intersection and matched his 3 gears of rubber with 2 of my gears, and proceded to chase him through 6 and a half miles of twisty road, now this is not a lie, i had 3 people in the ride with me, i ran with this shelby through ever corner, but then the road emptyied out into a huge straitaway, well lets say i ran wiht him for 6 miles or so, then it was like bye bye, and he shot off down the road like an f-ing rocket!!! i laid it to the floor, and to my suprise he is slowing down so i can catch up for the corners again!! so we ran about 120 through some really nice sweepers, i stopped at a citgo and talked to him, he said i should be racing pro or something but other than that he felt pretty bad about being paced by a station wagon!!

i fried my 3rd cilinder running with a riced out neon in a long strait and then proceded to roll at about 75mph through a nice peice of road consisting of 13 35mph corners and no banks or water drainage so it was really slick on the exit of the corners and in the middle, so i was laying it down sideways through this nice section of corners just using the power to pull out of the slide and dropping off the trottle and giving some light braking to pull the weight off the rears and get the car to slide the other direction without getting straitened out. but i stopped at the next town i came to, being my stomping grounds, lodi, swung into citgo and got out to have a smoke, my car was idling and i could hear a sound like someone was hitting my engine block with a hammer! the worst knocking sound ever. turns out i starved the oil pump and the weakest link in a subie motor is the 3rd cylinder, so guess what took the beating of no oil in the drifting?? so my motor is out of commision and i am limited to a toyota corolla, but i have it set up better than my subie was so i am all good with that.

i gotta go pick up my buddy and give him a ride home so i will post more under this topic later. but let me know what you guys think of this crap, its like everyday something like this happens so if you like it let me know i have a million storys i can tell.

Those are some really nice stories, I wish I had a car and some deserted roads. So this subie wagon is that the one with 250 WHP? That's pretty sweet. I used to have this crappy 1986 toyota cressida, well it was FR so that was kind of fun but it was crappy none the less. Got it sideways on rainy days and in the winter but could never really get it to drift the tail would just kind of come out at the end of the corner (power slide with no power). I think I finally figured out the correct motion, braking and power needed to get the tail out before the turn but then next day my gas tank started to leak and the rear table was cracked so I had to junk the thing.

i got a new one today in the dry with my corolla!! here goes:

i am coming up on a nice tech S curve left to right with a slight bank in both corners and a nice tranny in the middle, provides some high speeds in corner to corner running, so story goes on i am blazing about 65 and mind you these corners are evil, they will tear you up if you dont play it safe so i came outta the left at about 65 like i said before, i start into the right and get on the brakes to the point the weight load is on the front left and i drop the wheel to the left at the end of the corner and slide back the other way to pull a nice side brake into the intersection at about 20 feet out the corner then it all goes to caos! i have a bad left axle so if i drop into 2nd where i shoud be to power outta the corner i woulda dropped the axle clean off the car "so i just jumped on the brakes until all 4 tires locked" <----(bad form)

but it stopped me short of a stop sight by about a foot or so.

left some nice marks, no whitnesses, and alotta rubber for a tire sample for the cops though :D

well gotta go 4 now i will be out for a little bit in this beutiful night full of rain slicked twisty wisconsin backroads.

I remember my first "!drift" like it was yesterday
was driving in the gravel backroads, were I'd always get my brothers car sideways. was about 16 (we only get our liscences at18 here) so I took my bros car for an illegal spin.

anyhoo came out of this gravel turn, pumped the clutch and as the car was sidways, its just stayed sideways in this surreal way, felt I could hold it there, and I did, if only for a split second, I had drifted.

:D its wet and icey out! i just woke up but i am gonna go out for a bit and see what the roads are like, if they are any good i will have some more storys tonight.

i can recall a good one, i think this was the first real "BIG" drifting i ever did, it was before i modded my subaru legacy, i was in about 2inches of snow and the roads were slick as hell so i was out pulling the e-brake and such until i came along a really challenging left, it started on top of a small hill and was about 50 feet long, it was big, so i go at it the first time and i pull this tiney little slapper out of a weak little slide out the end of the corner so i was like ok, time to try it again, so i come up on the apex of the hill doing about 45mph, in a 25mph zone, on the snow, then pull the e-brake to get it going again, this time i get all the way around the corner working the ebrake and the throttle, that was it, I WAS ADDICTED, i used to drift my old go-kart in my gravel driveway when i was about 10, then i turned about 15 and took a passion for stealing my dads subaru, mind you all its only front wheel drive, i know subies are always all wheel drive, but in 1990-1994 they had a legacy model called the "sunsport" the 2wd model. but anyway i started on gravel and moved to snow then wide open dry paved road. still i am 19 years old and you all wont believe this...

i have never driven or well for that matter ever got a ride in a car with 1. a turbo 2. rear wheel drive 3. anywhere near as much power as my subie wagon!

no i havn't even seen a camaro up close in real life. not that i cant find one, i just have no interest in american cars, dont get me wrong i dont like acura's and honda's either but i am more selective about the cars i am a fan of.

like here is a good example, i hate the subaru WRX 2000 and on model, they claim 320hp, right? well they are talking about the flywheel, at the wheels they have 160hp, all they have is an astonishing 6500rpm all wheel drive launch!! but sad but true they are really heavy in cornering. then even worse than the atessa pro traction system from the nissan skyline R34 the 4 wheel drive in the subaru feels one wheel slipping and transfers the power to a non slipping wheel, hence a good slide on dry pavement will cause it to revert to nearly all front wheel drive, and whoo hoo understeer right off the corner!!

so screw it just use a sunsport with front wheel drive and accually use the ebrake when its needed.

the awd subie counterpart to mine has a 300lb rear heavy problem!!

mine is 150lb rear heavy, very similar to the way the weight is balanced in a 1986 porshe 911 Turbo tuned by RUF "Yellow Bird"

anyone wanna see some of the vids i have and see some of the websites i have found just full of drift vids, honestly they can make you way better if you study the movement and such.

k see ya'all later

OMG!!!

you all have to try drifting on hail, like the size of peas, they are the natural ball bearing, and on rain slicked roads they creat some wicked conditions, you can slide out like your on snow but its so controlled its awsome.

if you ever get the chance to drive on the stuff seize the moment, i did and i will never forget it!!

you ever seen the japanese throw a hackiroku through a twisty set of mountain corners?? or an FC3S through a nice sweeper?? it was just like that, it was smooth clean transfers between corners, not too much but not too little. nothing feels better than tearing through a residential street, well cruising, and countersteering through the whole road!

i leave you all with another pic i found that was taken at the 2000 tokyo auto salon, i have heard it referred to as a "RZ drift car" :odd:

never thought someone would consider chancing destroying a $45k+ car putting it sideways, then i found the second pic yesterday and now i know i have seen it all...:(

are you guys talking fake, because action speaks louder then words, are you guys making story in your dreams, because i sure know you need a lot of money to buy the drifting setting, because maybe sliding is not drifting ok, and as they say "if you can feel your car gripping, your not fast enough" that means ur not even drifting, sliding dont count, but still cool story though, hey get me those sites of drifting videos, because i went and search forever and didnt get no site, alright dude!!!!!!!

Hey Drift God, are you the one that make the Lancer Evo something, drifting on this one road i forgot, because if its you, thats pretty good, but i wanna see how fast is the speed, i know forsure i can drift faster then that and maybe you can to, or maybe your just showing the drifting only, well tell me ok, just curiose thats all

listen man, 3 or more corners is drift, like i have said power sliding out the "end" of a wet corner with mommys volvo isn't drift, i dont have to buy "drift settings" to be a strait drifter, its all about the driver not the car, i have a setup 2 man, well had on my subie, 17"x71/2" kosie K1 racing wheels in the front with yokohama advan AO32R tires, eibach pro springs all around, stock steel wheels in the rear, 2 3/4" exaust headers to my R1 racing sports muffler to reduce the sound slightly, a home made front mount air intake, a short throw shifter so i dont have to reach so far off the wheel to grab my next gear, modified pedal set to get the gas and brake closer for heel-toe downshifting, braided steel brake lines in the front and rear to reduce "fade" anything else? do you wanna know who i bought the parts from? do you need receipt copys?

i dont want to sound like an ass and i am sure you didn't either but hopefully we can come to an agreement. here are ya links:

http://velocity.isfaster.com

http://drift.cynergic.net/

http://www.77ch.com/yokohama/

good drifting body kits if you a nissan guy or chick:

http://www.gpsports-na.com/dealers.htm

"exvitermini" is a good site if your into the 1000+hp skyline thing i am not sure of the link but its aussies with a skyline that has an attitude problem!

now all i need to do is find out how to upload the vids i have that cant be found anywhere cuz all the links are dead and you CAN'T GET THEM ON KAZAA!!

so help me out and you all get some awsome vids.
