I keep seeing pictures about this LMP racer from this website. It's red and white and claims to be a Toyota. Wait, Toyota?! That must mean that Toyota's finally making a comeback to Le Mans! (since 1999, that is :) ) It has been said that a hybrid engine will be utilised. So this will make it the world's first hybrid LM car ever. It is also said that this will start to race sometime in 2012, most probably June. At least that's what I saw from various sources at the time. The car, by the way, is just called Toyota LMP1. At least that's what I also think.

Audi will also have a hybrid (diesel) at Le Mans this year....old news anyway, that announcement is so last year

(I wouldn't call them the king of Le Mans either as they haven't actually ever won there...).

Return of the King? You mean that manufacturer that has never won Le Mans?

Misnomer title is misnomer. Mazda is the only japanese marque to win Le Mans, with a C2 category car, no less.

The C1 cars were not nearly as reliable as the C2 cars, and not really faster (after 1989 at least) either. F1 engines were not so good at 24 hour races

Yea seriously king of le mans? But I don't think Toyotas return is going to do anything. Now that Peugeot is gone I believe Audi is gonna end up taking the cake gain this year.

you don't start a le mans campaign aiming for the first year, let see how they will do.

If you guys even read the thread title properly, you'd have seen it says "King of Toyotas in Le Mans".

But we've got a thread on this already.
