The Ryder Cup

With a name like this, golf is the immediate thought, but not in this case! The GT5 Ryder Cup, shares principles of the British Touring Car Championship of the 70's. American Muscle going against European Lightweights, hence the name.

Running the Championship

This is just like most championships in the sense that it is every-man-for-himself, but, along side this, an American Muscle vs European Lightweights Championship will be held. Each drivers individual points, go towards your cars nation e.g. If you drive a Chevrolet, your points go towards American Muscle. So not only are you trying to get the individual win, but you also want to work as a team, to get as many points as possible.

To race, you must add Ste100e on PSN, as the races will be hosted in his lounge.

Each round will consist of 3 races each being around 15 minutes in length, which will take place after 10 minutes of qualifying. The grid positions stay the same for each race.

The races will take place at 7:30 pm BST on Sunday evenings.

Cars Specs

European Lightweights, must have no more than 300 BHP, and must weigh no less than 750 KG.
American Muscle, are to have a maximum of 450 BHP, and a minimum weight of 1300 KG.
All cars will run on Sports Soft tyres, or worse.
Any age of cars are allowed, so you may drive a '69 Camaro or a '10 Camaro for example.

All driver aids will be disallowed except for ABS which may be on 1.

Racing Cars of any sort are forbidden.

Tracks

Laguna Seca

Eiger Nordwand Short Track
Trial Mountain

Prizes

No racing series is complete without prizes, which is why the Ryder Cup prizes are of such high quality. Finishing the Championship in first place will win you a Buick Special with 500 BHP, weighing in at 1250 KG. 2nd place in the Chanpionship will mean that you've rewarded yourself with a Lotus Europa, tuned to 300 BHP and 900 KG. Finally, finishing third overall will get you a Ginetta G4, also tuned to 300 BHP and 900 KG.

Each car will also be tuned by myself, and the tunes will ten be available in my tuning garage, I case you missed out on a Ryder Cup set-up that you wanted.

Not only are there prizes for the first three finishers, but, if you participate in three or more rounds, 3 paints will be yours courtesy of Dano20.

Hi guys I'm the founder of this series.

NOTE: You can use RM when available

Heck yeah! I like this idea. Depending on the time that you run it, I will join. Sounds like fun.

am or pm? What is that in gmt? I'm in America. If I can make it I'll definitely do this.

Cool, should work for me. Let me know when you have a date set. I'll try and spread the word

Well give it a couple of weeks, until we have a good amount of people. I also work on the lap numbers etc.

im in, keep me posted on a date....
whos room will this be in? they need to add me on PSN (i'v recently had a tidy up on my PSN friends) only have conza there now becuase of the HHL2 :)

look forward to it

Have you done any testing on this?

It does sound pretty interesting but surely it's going to end up Elise RM vs Camero/Corvette RM?

Would be better if you had cars already lined up.

Might sub this thread tho as 'could' be fun.

We have done a bit of testing and I think this could be close because some tracks favour the lightweights and some tracks favour the powerful cars

I agree with you rRM post priesty, and for that reason, I think we should ban all racing cars, of any sort.

I'll get some cars sorted out at some point.

The best way to resolve if the competition will be close is run a couple of 'practice' races just for kicks and see if there is a big gap... Obviously we have to take into account people's level of driving but you can normaly get a feel for accel and cornering

We will have a practice session later in the week

So should mics be on

Mics tend to cause more lag, and can even cause people to disconnect. I also find them distracting, so always mute them anyway.

I'm defiantly going for Europe and it will probably be a British made car

Oh. I totally missed that haha.

When you have chosen your car, could you let me know?

My Car:

Car - Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C3) '69
Body Colour - Matte Black
Wheels Colour - Chrome Gold

Are you up for a HHL practise now Dan?

Don't have my ps3 back yet the guy said it will be ready tomorrow afternoon

Sorry I forgot about that. I guess I'll just join some lounge then.

You need to add spatt to the entry list and put the time up 7:30bst on a Sunday night

Anyone else interested
