The Search Function, how does it work?

I'm not asking how to use it, but I would like to know is how does the search function work?

It seems to be really fast at finding matches to your search terms how does it narrow down all the info contained here at GTP and give you what you are looking for?

How does the search funtion prioritize the threads it displays to you? I recently did a search and I put the exact name of the thread into the search bar and the thread I was looking for came up a few pages deep into the results.

Speaking of vB devolopers, I just talked to one and I found out that vB3 has no official date set to be released.

I'm pretty sure it prioritizes the results of your search in order of the date of last post in that thread.

You can set how it prioritizes the search, at least in the search feature I'm using...
