That said, I can't remember a more promising season in years. Sure, the promotion year was promising, but only from January onwards. We just need to make sure we stop conceding stupid goals at stupid times - which is what hurt us so badly last year. At least we're tonking them in the other end though :D

Wednesday have just had Jermaine Johnson sent off, 2 minutes after he was substituted off...

He had a bit of a sub-paddy, so the ref sent him off. The commentators have no idea what exactly should happen now - they think that Sodje, who replaced him, should be taken off but can't explain why. I can't recall it ever happening before either...
 
If the subsitution has already been made then that's weird. I'm guessing he left the pitch and Sodje came on. So did he then return to the pitch and have his paddy, or did he have it off the pitch?

EDIT: I've jsut read about the incident and from the sound of it no action should have been taken against the player who came on. An unusual senario but similar things have happened before. Any player in the team can recieve a red card on the pitch or off. If it is a player who is off the pitch it doesn't mean that a player on the pitch has to come off. Say a player on the sub bench runs onto the pitch and gives the ref a hail of verbal, the ref can give him a red card in which case he can't be used as a sub any more, but all the players on the pitch are still safe.

Between the touchline and the technical area he took his annoyance out on a water bottle (and kept it under the bar, unlike his two shots) and had a bit of a pushing-match with some of the coaching staff.
 
I think its just a ban on his part now. Players have been booked in the dug out before without even getting on the pitch.
 
Indeed - subs have been sent off before too. But it's first I've heard of a player who has participated in the game already getting sent off.

Sheffield Wednesday, £25m in debt, instead of signing a lucrative shirt sponsorship deal for the next two years (well, as lucrative a deal as being on Wednesday shirts can be), donate it to the Sheffield Children's Hospital.

Any better-financed clubs want to follow suit? You know, clubs with billions to spend on over-the-hill Welsh goalpoaching thugs?
